I love them. Try opening up the cups (it's easy, all you need is a screwdriver) and dampening them. There are directions here:

What do they exactly mean by "refurbished"? I've always wondered what they are. Are they simply the ones that have been returned by costomers, or ones with defects that have been fixed by the manufacturer?

usually refurb can mean either of the choices u mentioned.
