Hello, I wonder if there is a way to by-pass the Ipod's internal DAC. I want to improve the sound coming out of the Ipod by using an external DAC. Thanks.

I didn't know anything like that existed, but it makes me wonder why. If you're going to spend money on something like that that isn't portable, why wouldn't you just send pure digital from your computer to an external dac?

GIMME AN R!
GIMME AN I!
GIMME AN A!
GIMME ANOTHER A!

WHADDA YA GOT?

R-I-A-A!! R-I-A-A!! R-I-A-A!!

DEE-FENCE!! DEE-FEENCE!! DEE-FENCE!!

Oh, and also because the average consumer doesn't give a rat's patootie about SQ, so why should they bother? Especially when they can focus on really important features like Zwarufffshkyee crystals and all sorts of different colors to match people's outfits!!

Get with the program, dude! Did you forget to take your SOMA today?

Aside from the wadia itransport, the cheapest way to do this is by connecting the ipod to the pc, then pc to external dac

So far there is no portable option yet for bypassing the internal dac

As pointed out above, DAP makers cannot make DAPs that can technically reproduce digital copies of songs, which can be done with the optical out

and oh yeah, most people don't care about the optical out

Can't see the point of itransport either. Just buy a Squeezebox/Sonos/Roku or other media streamers/dedicated HTPC.

It still amazes me that nobody reverse engineered the Wadia 710i yet
