Is there a point getting new headphones?

Why not ditch the 650's and get a pair of Yuin IEM's and use the shelving unit to display the various tips.

I'd have to say a new source and dedicated headphone amp first.

The thought of listening to headphones from the output jack of a mini tower system is enough to give me nightmares.

This. You need a decent amp, integrated or otherwise, and a new cd player if you listen to cds. There's no point in listening to higher-end headphones through the setup you have now.
