idk what the hell I am doing, and nobody would reply to any of my topics I posted in recent time

I got the D3 under the impression I could just plug the mini to mini cord into my sansa fuze and the other end into the D3 and use it.  It doesnt seem to do anything in that regard

I also thought i could use it an an amp for my pc.  Just plug into the USB and music pops out when your headphones are plugged in.  Again, I must be wrong or doing something wrong

I feel i just wasted time and money on something that was supposed to be an amp, but isnt?

anyone want to help me?

Did you get this new?

Do you have the audio section of the computer set up for an external audio device?

Do you have the mini plugs pushed in all the way?

As you have not answered Jamato8's questions, it sounds like you are saying you know this for sure somehow, and that you do not therefore want any more answers on this thread.

I originally did answer it.  It was edited to reflect my wants to return it to the user i bought it from who is very difficult to get a reply from and seems to not want to accept it could be damaged, and was damaged before he ever sent it to me.  ANY help is appreciated.

Its used from a user here at head fi with great feedback and lots of amp sales

The amp registers as an external device and is detected by my pc

Yes, the plugs are pushed in fully

Now, I've been back and forth with the seller who seems to not want to accept his poor packing job and the likelyhood it was damaged in the shipping process.  He also told me that some headphones just dont work on it.  Here is his reply quote

"Have you tried using it as an amp only?  I have had this happen to me as well.  When the entire plug is in, there is no sound."

this worries me because he knew it was not working properly

Now, am I to believe a piece of metal is bias to certain types of headphones?  My pk1s work on the amp, they are distorted a bit but work, the bass is heavily distorted, buzzing and muddy but when the Gain switch is down the sound is incredibly garbled and glitchy.  When I listen to the same song via other amps and sources on the same headphones, it sounds great and no problems in it.  When I use ANY other headphone, such as a shure 840, I get no sound unless the jack is half in ( sound quality is awful but sound comes out ), when its fully pushed it, no sound comes out unless I apply pressure upwards on the headphone jack at the output port.  This happens on every other headphone I own that is medium to full sized, straight plug earbuds are all that works.

I took the back end off and slipped the entire thing out from its case, it was very loose.  Gently blew on it in case it was dirty and put it back.  It is acting like a shorted out unit because outside of the lightweight small earbuds and their jack, the unit does not produce sound from any source unless you apply pressure upwards and hold it there, then it sounds magnificent.  As soon as you let go, back to no sound.

The usb method does not work.  The blue light pops on, absolutely no sound will come through, tested on multiple computers, tested multiple sources, tested multiple headphones and mini to mini cables and batteries, red light is bright and on, as well as the blue light for when the USB is plugged in.  Only small lightweight earbud jacks will produce sound still with some distortion, sounds overdriven and garbled on the low end, anything else forces you to hold and push the headphone jack at the output upward for sound to come through

Edit: also forgot to mention.  When I plug the PK1s that actually work on the D3 into my speakers on my pc or other sources and crank the volume up, I get no blurr effect and garbled sound or bass.  However, when its used on the D3 beyond 75% volume, everything is HEAVILY Distorted, but the volume is not very loud at all, its just around a good volume for listening.  How can this not be a shorted out glitchy unit?

It could be a cold or broken solder point on the input. If pressure applied to the mini produces normal sound, if I read you correctly, it would seem to be an open, i.e., cold solder joint or a broken solder point.

Yes, it is 100% for sure a short.  I listed an ad in craigslist for someone with a D3 nearby that maybe I could stop by and test my own equipment on it and see if it was my d3 that was busted

it is, i guy answered who lived like 15 min away, stopped by and used all my gear on it and it worked flawlessly and with a much different sound that was just awesome.  It was a defective D3 and its already in the mail being sent back whether the seller likes it or not

i dont think he is to blame, he seems to think this was normal.  He even said sometimes it produced no sound...thats not normal :\

No, that would not be normal. Best of luck.

Thanks for the interest in helping anyway fellas

I already sent it back to the user...  Whether he agrees to refund me is another question though...lets hope he does.
