i get this error after loading the UBI file (r867 from here: http://builds.freemyipod.org/). when i try to boot rockbox to install the “rockbox-ipodclassic.zip” file i get this error.
i'm also using an iFlash MKII adapter w/ an SDXC card. could this be the problem?

I am experiencing the exact same thing. I have a 7g classic with an iFlash, CF<>SD adapter and 128gb SD card. Frustrating!

The assumption that it was related to the emcore build was pure speculation on my part based on the limited feedback from users at the time. Dosent seem to be causing a problem after the initial first reboot fail. Care to share your thoughts and reasons for going with emcore r866? Im looking for a reason to upgrade
.
Just to be clear re: the lockup on the first reboot following the install of aroldan's latest build...
I'm running emCore 866 and got the lockup. So it seems the version of emCore is not necessarily the culprit.

IIRC, I went with r866 because it was the one that had all OK marks, at least when I first RB'd my "7th gen" 160GB Classic. And since I don't seem to have any real problems (discounting the very minor reboot hiccup), I doubt I'll go to r868. I'll have to have a look at the emCORE page again, since plenty of people are running r868...

which is why I haven't gone there. r867 is all green, but I'm lazy

i've been using r866 before too...but since i saw a few people using r868, i decided to take the chance and update to it - no problems so far.
my take on emcore r868, if we look closely at the builds page, it only says FAILED under emcore-installer BUT, if you look at emcore, it says OK - so my understanding is, the file r868 is indeed safe to use, it's only the INSTALLER that has some issues, so once you gone past the step of installing the file, you should be all good
i myself never encountered any issues in installing r868 and i bet a few users also had the same experience

I finally decided to jump on the bandwagon. r868 installed with no problems. Right off i noticed that the ui appears to be a little faster than previous. Thanks for the input.

Yes, I keep remembering your advice! But I read Rockbox is a bit faster with the newer build, so...
BTW, how's your experience with the new "official" Rockbox build going?

So far so good. It feels about the same as my old Aroldan 120802 build which is fine by me.

If someone can point to an actual tangible improvement, that just might tip the scales.

Yea, I been waiting for that person to step up and its yet to happen, sooo, i just jumped in feet first.
yeah, i too understand the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality, can't blame you guys...me, i just want everything updated, and if it's not to my liking, then i can always go back at least i tried - but then again, that's just me.

Damn you two! You're making sense - even though I have zero problems with the old build. I'm not listening...
