I saw the iPodlounge article. I wonder what they'll do for the 5G...? Can't wait

I'm really glad I decided to repair my 3G instead of buying a 4G/Photo.

I bet they will change the button configuration again. To distinguish it cosmetically from 4G, just like the touch wheel distinguished 4G from 3G. Personally I still dig the 3G ergonomics - I like having all the buttons in a row on the top!

why would anyone think this is the 5th gen though? changing a word and dropping the 30gb option is hardly stretching the mnds of the Apple designers

- Those persons at microsoft apple developing the iPod are stuck in a rut and need to forced out of it by the market, as long as everyone is content with the crap they put out thats what we the consumer will get. how does the saying here go.

Crap in, Crap out

they see everyone swallowing their little white load thats nothing more than a harddrive in a white case, they are gonna keep churning slight modifications out.

The idea of a HDD player/recorder can go SOOO far but seeing as how microsoft apple is on top they dont feel the need to compete and push the envelope per se. They see their customers dont want complex products and adding features most times means more complex interfaces. KISS ... keep it simple stupid and thats what they have done to a T. Keepin it simple for those less inclined to technical devices. They learned from the whole idea of ppl not being able to program a VCR, if it was that complex do you think it would have been as successful in the first place ppl hail it for its ease of use. I think thats whats holding it, and the rest of those producing portable music devices back. except for sony because well they just dont care. If you cant use it dont buy it. And well they lost a few times, but they invented the idea of portable music so as far as im concerned they are teh only ones capable of teaching MSApple how to do it right tech wise ... ideally they should get together and hit one out the park if they can pack a few features:

Sony.MSApple iDisk:
(Key Features, Feel Free To Add)
InPhase 1.6TB Holographic Disk: I would pay upwards of $50 for a disc (only need one).
iTunes: The simplicity of it is nice.
BlueTooth: For Transfer and Earbuds and Streaming Audio (NOT always on)
AM/FM Tuner
HDRadio (for european users)
Line In.Out (digital upload no DRM for musicians who need their music can at least get it to CD)
Optical In
Mic In
2gb Flash Internal Memory Buffering 0 possiblity of skiping (continuous play if changing a disc + have a shuffle like playlist possibly made on the fly(option))
Sonys Monstrous Menu of BitRates for Different Recordings
HiMD Size
iPod Interface
Scroll Panel: On side no wheel, keeps aesthetic clean. (Play.Menu/>>/<</[])
OLED Screen (no color necessary its music not TV)
10mW +- 10mW internal amp
30+ hr Battery Life

and holographic projector for Jmmmmm.

I only have one request.

It's very simple.

All I want is, when I push the play button, an amazingly beautiful naked woman pops out of the mp3 player and sings the music to me.

Just that one thing.
