Why do people say it allows iPhone to get rid of DAC? One is still required for the in built speakers on the phone, I thought.

Not only that, but for phone call, and streaming services as well. That is why it is going to suck to get Rid of the 3.5

That sounds even more complicated than using 2.5mm TRRS instead of 3.5mm lol

Anyway my biggest hope is that companies develop cables with dac/amp attached and designed to cater the needs of the earphone in question. i.e. a cable for SE846 with low z and noise amp fitted into the cable (ala remote controller).

I think Apple buyers are already buying the top end of the market and will pay for convenience of wireless.

This is the future that i envision: what Audeze is already doing. Dac/amp in the cable, lightning plug.

Yep. That's what i think is gonna happen. And performance will leap forward. Our wallets future might be not as bright though lol.

It happens to the mass who adore it. To the people who knows how a good pair of headphones or IEMs work, how DAC and Amplifier work, it is not going to be an adorable design, period.

By the way, iPhone 5/5s/6/6s with lightning will work with any headphones with lightning. No need to eliminate 3.5 on ip7. Let's see
