V-MODA INVENTS REMIX
BLUETOOTH SPEAKER AND HEADPHONE AMPLIFIER

“After developing our critically acclaimed headphones, we felt it was time to evolve, to “remix” the V-MODA sound into a new form. We already had our innovative headphones with their world-renowned sound, materials and personalization: why can’t a speaker achieve the same goals and excel at the same vision?” says Val Kolton, V-MODA CEO. “Now, after three long years of development, V-MODA’s REMIX is ready – travel-friendly and compact, yet with full-bodied sound that’s as detailed at low volumes as it is at full power. It is a historic landmark product, because it is the first consumer product available right now where all surfaces are customizable via futuristic additive-manufacturing technology.”

WORLD’S FIRST 3D-PRINTED FULLY FACETED CUSTOM PRODUCT WITH HI-FI SOUND QUALITY

As the world’s first 3D-printed custom speaker, all six sides of REMIX can be personalized (patent-pending). Using V-MODA’s renowned jewelry-grade 3D-printing expertise, owners can add new sides, change the front grill or even replace the main “C-shell” housing for the ultimate in bespoke appearance. A range of materials is available, from lightweight matte fiber to raw, gold-plated or precious metals including 14-karat rose gold and even platinum.

SUPERIOR SOUND REPRODUCTION WHEREVER YOU NEED IT

"AN IMPRESSIVE SOUND THAT BELIES ITS SMALL SIZE" -The Verge

Built on the foundation of V-MODA’s multi-award-winning audio technology, REMIX projects precise and vibrant sound at all listening levels. Available in two finishes – minimal CNC aluminum and luxurious vegan leather – this premium speaker exemplifies the work of V-MODA’s Milano-based design studio; classically styled, beautifully proportioned and completely customizable on all six sides to reflect the personality of its owner.

Measuring just over 8" (20cm) wide, REMIX is designed to go anywhere, delivering phenomenal, lifelike sound wherever you go. Powered by a newly designed glass-fiber diaphragm and long coil drivers, REMIX also features a rear-mounted bass reflex port for an accurate, clearly defined sound that’s powerful enough for monitoring duties during mobile recording and production.

VAMP® Headphone Amplifier Built-In

Another remarkable world’s first is that REMIX includes a headphone amplifier in wired analog mode which is comparable to standalone headphone amplifiers worth $200 or more. Owners of high-end, higher-impedance headphones can drive them as they were made to be driven  with 83mW x 2 energy  thanks to REMIX’s built-in V-MODA VAMP technology and experience. Headphone amplifiers have far greater wattage than conventional smartphones and computers, which are generally built to drive earbuds rather than hi-end headphones.

Easy to Pair, 10+ Hours Playback, Ready to Assist via Alexa Echo Dot

In addition to high-fidelity sound that can go anywhere, REMIX is versatile and easy to use. Bluetooth pairing is fast and simple, while a full charge via USB-C gives 10+ hours of cable-free music playback. The built-in microphone is perfect for online meetings or Skype calls, as well as communicating with voice assistants like Apple’s Siri, “Ok Google” Assistant.

Multitaskers can connect two Bluetooth sources simultaneously, such as a smartphone and laptop, or a smartphone and smartwatch. An unlimited number of REMIX speakers can be daisy-chained via cable for an even bigger sound that is truly unbelievable in scale. It also connects with Amazon’s Alexa via the Echo Dot – either wirelessly via Bluetooth or wired with the included cable.

This way you can place the Echo Dot for the optimum microphone reception and then situate the speaker in a different location to give the best sound and fit for your room style. REMIX is also compatible with Google Chromecast Audio to connect to the cloud or casting apps.

How does it sound compared to Riva S?
I wish there was an option to get one without the headphone amp for less price. Especially if it's better sounding than Riva S.

Looks interesting. A little spendy IMO, then again, there's nothing like it and V-Moda does make some real quality audio products.

Obviously it's a lifestyle product (hey - what can I say? - that's the sort of penetrating insight that earns me the big bucks

) but since I currently carry a Bose Soundlink on overseas trips that doesn't disqualify it for me. I think that the 3D printing side of things is very clever because it means that cases, stands and other accessories can be bespoke for people (not me) with the skill and creativity. I'm not thinking about the wrought iron scrollwork here: more something like brackets so that it can be "built in" to a bag or item of furniture. Could work that way.

Of course, a lot depends on sound and Jude's "pleasantly surprised" doesn't exactly amount to an endorsement. I'm not sure that the headphone amp talk will fly here; it might to me personally because I don't travel with a headphone amp but the Remix looks too big to slip in a jacket pocket, meaning that it only acts as a portable headphone amp in the narrow range of possible situations where you are willing to carry a speaker and want a headphone amp but aren't willing to carry one. They might have done better to go the whole hog and include a DAC, though even that $300 price tag would have to move significantly North if they do that. I'd also like a USB output for recharging a phone.

By the way, the publicity shot speaks volumes for the intended market. No sexist objectification here (cough):

That's nothing new with V-MODA.

Although I wouldn't mind the contents of that bathtub either, and that's not including the girl.

The specs are a little lacking.  The Bluetooth version isn't listed (I'm assuming 4.1) along with what it's compatible with (AAC, aptX).  They weren't listed for the Crossfade Wireless either but were for the Metallo Wireless earbuds.  I also wonder how this sounds going up against speakers like the SoundLink Mini II, Beoplay A1, and even the UE Megaboom which is waterproof, lasts longer on a single charge, and can pair of up over 100 different UE Boom-type speakers while coming in at the same price (often less).
