Ok thanks he confused me saying you needed to connect to a pc.
True that the cobalt is not true line in and probably uses an opamp.
Its just that questyle doesn't specifically say you can do this in the instructions as audioquest does.
Ok. Im getting very decent sound on the cobalt via line out to my amps. Superior vs dongle alone. Using audioquest big sur interconnect and does make a noticeable difference. Output voltage is 2.1 which i believe is standard for single ended.
It seemed to me the sound quality was similar. But I (like most people) have too short an echoic memory to compare the sound before and after the firmware change. I did not hear anything special with the new firmware.

Did anyone try this "ifi audio adapter" at the 4.4mm socket (see Foto). 4.4mm balanced to 3.5mm unbalanced for more output power.
Or can the device be damaged?

iFi claims on their web page that it does not damage the amplifier but also that it essentially it just leaves you with a single-ended connection, so you would not get the advantage of additional power that most amps push through their balanced headphone outputs versus their single-ended headphone outs -- so in the end, this mostly useful if you have a device that simply doesn't offer single-ended headphone outputs, like the Xduoo MT-604.
"Please note: negative balanced signals are not connected to ground in the adapter, enabling a 3.5mm single-ended headphone connector to be converted for use with a balanced 4.4mm output without risk of damage to the amplifier. This adapter does not convert a single-ended connector into a balanced one – the connection remains single-ended."
It is not a question of symmetrical or asymmetrical. Of course the 3.5mm output is asymmetrical (unbalanced). But the 4.4 output has more power.
There is one main application scenario for this adapter: The 4.4mm balanced connections on players / amplifiers usually have significantly more power than the normal 3.5mm unbalanced outputs. With this adapter, you can benefit from this extra power without having to buy an entire balanced cable. Of course the signal is reversed from balanced to unbalanced in the adapter. But one could benefit for more power. Does anyone tested this adapter in real? Were there any issues?
Unfortunately, it is currently only possible to update M15 firmware on a Windows machine using the .rar/.exe files available on the Questyle downloads page - https://questyleshop.com/pages/downloads-1
Apparently this is due to the cost and difficulty of providing two independent firmware toolkits across all of Questyle's products. However, this could change in the future given sufficient demand.
The irony, Mike, is that the "i" series of Questyle's products are intended to be used in the Apple ecosystem. NOT WINDOWS. All the firmware should be updated via macOS. The company ought to do what their buyers need (and want). Other firms do have macOS updaters available for their products.

Luxury & Precision dongles can also just be updated via Windows. Besides, the “i” ensures better compatibility with iOS devices, not Macs specifically.
That said, a Mac updater would be nice nonetheless, agreed.
