Introducing Shanling H2 - Budget Portable DAC/AMP with Built-in Player
Jan 20, 2024 at 8:10 AM Post #61 of 124
got the H2 today. The feature to listen to sd card (not bluetoothed music) while being controlled by the phone is attractive to me. H2 in my right pocket and my phone on my left. It’s surprising how inexpensive it is for what it gives.
That feature is indeed attractive. What filter are you using?

Thank you got it working. However i have to say the dynamics are lacking a bit on the H2. I was hoping it would at least sound close to the UA3. Perhaps a FW upgrade can do some magic? A bit to digital glare no matter the filter used.

This is nature of its Cirrus Logic DAC. You would have to go for the H5 to get sound tuning similar to H5.

Firmware updates do not change sound, apart from special cases.

Shanling you must to stay with akm magic and you house sounds...you can have magic only partner with akm!

We offer a range of products with different DACs. If you like our AKM sound, the H5 and H7 are available.

How sound this h2 have same lushnes like h5?
If have same signature i m attempted to buy it?

No, it's more neutral tuning.

Thanks for the reply. Is there a limit of songs that can be placed on the msd card and used via symlink? I ask because i have around 10500 songs on the card and the UI on the symlink is pretty laggy at times.

The library scan limit is set at 20 000 Files.
But if you use folder browsing, it should be in theory unlimited.

What about the lag i am experiencing on the Edict Player app while using Symlink?

Edit: I must add the lag seems to go away after playing a few tracks. However i notice that there any artists and albums as unknown. I take great pains to tag all my music properly so what might be the issue?

Make sure you are running latest app version and have clear connection over Bluetooth, that's all advice we can make for this.

If you have any artist or album showing as unknown, you can send us sample files to check. We give all of these to our software team and once in a while they add fix for this into firmware update.

This maybe a special case where the XMOS update to v.1.3 has done wonders for me. No glare whatsoever and though the low end is still reference it is adequately satisfying.

I am having a great time with this device. Only if some of the artists that are not recognised could be (synclink). Very versatile device indeed.
