I can confirm that this does the job really well...for example in DCElite's case you have to use both USB-C ports as advised, since it will only drive data to one port exclusively and then power through the other exclusively as well - if no power is supplied, and only data is, to the adapter, then DCElite won't power up.
thank-you - just ordered.

Finally got my set. About the size of an aircon controller. Sound quality for the 4.4 cable is darn good. Have not test out 3.5 and lineout. A tad slow for android system but still reasonable. My wife thought i bought a high class handphone lol.

I am quite surprised the size and weight, I know if I had just read the specs. I wanted something a little more portable them my Cayin N7/C9. I does sound good, I have a Hiby with this dac chip set and like it just don’t like it’s buttons. While it is made by Shanling under the ONIX name it is supported by ONIX, mine refuses to connect to Google servers so I can’t load any applications and ONIX does not have a dedicated support contact info. I am a little bummed a product this expensive has such poor support. You would have thought at this price they would have included the protective cover. At this point I am a little disappointed in the purchase.

Just try to do a factory reset. Try connecting via wifi and handphone hotspot.

If all fails, try contacting shanling website since its under them. @Shanling

 Hmm... I haven't pulled the trigger yet, but this is making me rethink doing so.

It is also a shame the usb port is not a display port, I put a 1tb sd card on it and I would have liked it to be able to plug in Xreal display glasses and use it for movies and games. I would probably return them but Hifigo charges a arm and a leg for returns, between them saying they have product and they don’t ( waiting for fio planer earbuds) and this I will not use them anymore.

I did not know daps are meant for that. Not sure if other daps usb is display port as well.

The customer service might not response as they are having holidays till 6 feb.

So far the sound quality is good and i mainly use it to travel and listen to music.

I have some things i hope they can improve on. Like functions on the screen to avoid clicking the button. I have to download a volume button to adjust volume. But there is no screen off option in the software, i have to click the physical button.

Good thing is that there is an option to restart and shutdown. Double tap to wake up is nice. Option to turn off logo light is good too.

I hope they come out with the 3.5 mm balance adapter soon.

Well everything else aside it does sound good ( the main objective). I was just hoping to be able to use it for multiple things when I travel. I will use it with IEMs so it has plenty of power, good bass slam. All my home dacs are R2R and the AKM dacs sound pretty close to them so I like the sound.

Could you eliberate? Sounds just good? Or just okay? Smooth? Or analytical? Etc…

It is a smooth not analytical , nice soundstage, nice bass not super deep but to my liking. Female vocals come forward like they should, treble is pleasant not fatiguing. I like it I am listening with Dunu SA6, CCA Hydra, and a couple other similar IEMs. I really like the sound, however it is a bit heavy (physically), not sure why they went with stainless steel it will fall out of you pocket if not careful, size is a bit large as well can’t really carry it in your front pockets. I wanted to try Shanling DAPs but this was not a good choice as it is built by them but branded ONIX, not sure why they bought the name, I guess the styling. I think some of the other daps offer a better value.

Right, that's exactly what I'm thinking as well. :relaxed:

Yeah, that's the real trick here... deciding how permanent I want the attachment method to be. It would all come down to what kind of adhesive is used to hold the magnets to the phone/DAP. The only non-permanent alternative I'm considering are sticky dots: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CM6BSZGC/ that can periodically replace as needed. As for protecting the DAP's screen, I'd probably just leave that to screen protectors?

Thanks! If they're really super thin, I might consider going that way.

I suppose, though I'd probably never use its own screen while it's attached to my iPhone. There'd be no need for me to do that.

It would be a very thin (and thus pocket-friendly) DAC/amp with its own battery (and thus power-friendly to my phone) that I can always separate from my phone if I ever wanted a standalone DAP.

The DC-Elite (a) doesn't have its own battery, and would be an undesirable power draw on my phone; while (b) also being thicker as to not feel great in my pocket. The Mojo 2 is what I'm using now.

Please note that everything I've said previously is predicated on three things: carryability, usability, and not caring about the resale value of either the phone or the DAP. I get it, I'm weird, but I'm allowed to be weird so I'm taking advantage of that freedom. :joy:
thanks. using it as a dac/amp with iphone how would you compare the sound signature to the mojo2?
i have a mono2/poly combo which is kinda nice as you don’t have wires though if the quality is better (more resolving) i am definitely interested.
the dc elite is definitely a strain on the battery and adding magsafe it makes it bulky indeed. though in my collection it is incredibly resolving which is what i am seeking in a less cumbersome device.
