Subbed. After watching Soundnews review, this sounds very promising in terms of sonic performance. I'll wait though. If the support and customer service isn't there, I won't spend that kind of money.

Okay, I gotta say - with the one caveat that it's not the last word in detail/resolution - I've been enjoying the XM10 quite a bit!

It is simultaneously the smallest (thinnest) and largest (screen size) full-sized DAP I've owned. That works to my advantage as the thickness of it (or lack thereof) makes it easily pocketable. And the large screen serves me well when watching the occasional YouTube or TIDAL video.

And despite the single AKM chip inside, I've found the SQ more than satisfactory and quite pleasing, especially when I'm out-and-about where there's enough external sound to guarantee a higher-than-home noise floor.

Battery life has been fine. Just shy of seven hours on a full charge, with fairly minimal screen interactions, which works for any domestic flight I'd be likely to take.

Still early days with it, but I'm pleased so far!
Sorry if this has been covered before, is the sound signature warm like many of the other Shanling DAPs? I’m very tempted by the size.

I wish I could say, but since I haven't heard any other Shanling DAPs, I can't say. 🙁

This might be for the person who likes to carry around their smartphone to listen to their music yet feels that using a USB DAC dongle feels too 'cheap' and wants something a bit more premium but doesn't like the chunky DAPs out there... well this Onix XM10 is it

Yup! In fact, I've never even used the original one. I went straight to the Shanling one, so I don't even know if the ONIX adapter works or not!

Right, or dual use rather? I don't like connecting my phone to the Mojo2Poly with a cable. So when I use the Mojo2Poly outdoors, it requires that I use my phone as a hotspot, so that I can AirPlay from it. Whenever I don't feel like doing that, the XM10 comes out to play.

Yeah, I think the weight might be the biggest drawback for me so far? If they made one with a Ti or Mg chassis, built-in 4.4 and maybe more battery life - even at a significant cost increase - I would seriously consider it.

🤣 But then it would be thicc.

I can't confirm that, but I also don't use Spotify, which is what he used to demonstrate that. The response is pretty snappy with TIDAL and Qobuz. Apple Music glitches once in a while if there's a lot of art that needs to be loaded. But overall, it seems reasonable to me.

Unfortunately not lol.

I don't like telling people to buy something, even if it's something that I genuinely like a lot myself. For example, I love Macbeth right now. Outside of other IEMs that I'm currently reviewing, it's pretty much all I listen to these days. And even with that being the case, the biggest recommendation I gave for the Macbeth is that people audition it if they can.

That said, if you're reasonably happy with the JM21, I'd probably stick with that for now... with the potential of moving up to the M21 later. Purely from a functional standpoint, I can't see how you'd be happier with the XM10 at 350% more in terms of cost. Plus, as you mentioned, that Walkman case does seem super fun! 😄
Do you use Apple Music offline at all?

Do you use Apple Music offline at all?

Traditionally, no. In the past, I've only ever used Apple Music on my phone or desktop, both of which were always online. Is there anything specific you'd like me to test out regarding Apple Music when offline?

On my DX260 my offline library (from AM) regularly wouldnt play. So I'd get on a flight and have no music 😩

Ah, okay I see. Let me download a playlist, and then disconnect Wi-Fi.

Three songs in... and other than the particular IEM I'm using now not being the best pairing for it, it seems to be doing fine. I have some other things to listen to today, but I'm happy to leave it playing for a while to see if anything goes amiss?

I'm currently toying between the Onix XM10, A&K SE100, saving more for the M8T, or just geeting a DX180 and saving the money.

Ah, I wish I could help you there mate, but that choice involves a host of factors to consider. I haven't used the other DAPs you mentioned, but in my experience A&K is nearly always a solid choice. I've heard wonderful things about the M8T's sound and performance as well, so nothing bad to say there. And of course, as you mentioned, the DX180 is good value for money. That said, though it's a warmer sound than I typically go for, I'm pleased with my XM10 so far.

My last DAP would be fine. I've be using on my commute to the airport. Put it in my bag for a big (security etc), then go to use it and the same playlists wouldn't load. Some weird ass bug. Apple blamed iBasso, who blamed the app (and Apple).

Yeah, that doesn't make much sense to me either. Hazarding a guess, maybe the DAP is trying to latch onto Wi-Fi at the airport, and that network doesn't allow for streaming or some such... but if the DAP is offline it shouldn't matter.
