Introducing Lotoo PAW Gold

Does this device play all supported formats gaplessly? The battery is non-replaceable according to the company and has a lifespan of "at least 5 years". Is this normal for similar highend devices like Astell & Kern etc? I am interested in this or similar products as a viable alternative to a stationary set-up, but 5 years seems rather a short life for such an expensive product, however fantastically it performs. The company did say "at least 5 years", and my 5th generation iPod is still working. However, longevity of this and similar products is definitely an issue for me.

Unfortunately there is a small gap between each song. I don't listen to classical so it does not bother me, nevertheless the device is not truly gapless.

I'm still waiting for HM901S vs Paw Gold comparison to make my purchase on a DAP.

Problem is which card in the 901s? I don't know where the Lotoo Paw Gold's sound quality will ultimately settle in but I already prefer it to the 901s I heard with it's stock balanced card in early Jan. It was a bit middy/forward in presentation out of either output and a couple different phones. Maybe it wasn't a final production unit or another card would sound what I personally consider more balanced so take this with a grain but those were my impressions at the time. It was plenty informative enough. I remember quite liking the original 901 when it 1st appeared a couple years back.

I have to admit that next to the Tera player,Lotoo Paw Gold is my favorite DAP ever :-)

Musicday, the way it is developing, I have to agree with you. :)

Update the original post with links to members impression.

I've got myself a 128 GB microSD and getting ready for PAW 5000. I am hoping to use it with HUGO which I have neglected ever since I have got the Lotoo. HUGO is still the better sounding device but yes it is a different category.

I believe with the right amp Lotoo can match the performance of HUGO but that defeats the purpose of a portable DAP.

After trying out the the Fitear 335, MH334 and 435, the 335 and 334 are great with the PAW; the 435 not so as it seems to be a bit bloomy as if it is struggling to handle the power even at low gain.

The Ref 1 is awesome with the PAW: the soundstage, the visceral bass impact and the timbre of strings... And for an older CIEM like the ACS T1, it pairs very nicely. I'm now eagerly awaiting my ACS Encore Studio which is more full range because it has 5 drivers as compared to the 3 in the T1. :)

I am sitting here in the early hours of a Saturday morning. Listening to some Chinese love songs, redbook, ACS T1 off the PAW on low gain at level 50 volume. I am reminded why I had chosen the T1 as my first ever pair of customs. The plaintive but sweet voice of 周蕙 singing come through so clearly and yet naturally, accompanied by light instrumentation. The piano and guitar sounds just right. The bass resonates beautifully when it comes on. Saturday morning bliss at its best! :)

Now listening to a series of DSDs on the PAW on the ACS T1: Shelby Lynne's Lil' Bit of Loving; Roxy Music's Greatest Hits; Roy Orbison's Black and White Night; Spandau Ballet's True. Par Excellence! The pristine sound of the PAW coupled with the organic sound of the T1 makes me salivate at the prospect of my incoming ACS Encore Studio.

if you like Jazz and don't mind listening in a foreign language try anything from Zaz, PAW shines with DSD.

Noted with thanks, Audionewbi. Quick Q: I just tried playing ISOs on the PAW: some work, for others I get an error message about empty playlist...:(

Hi Kiats, how does the T1 compare with the 333?
