Introducing Lotoo PAW Gold

What spoiled the deal for me is the lack of gapless playback. As I learned doing my comparisons today, songs that run together are all over my music collection. And every time that the LPG stutters through the transition, I am frustrated anew. I cannot spend big bucks on that and be reminded everyday that the world is just not right.

I prize listening to a recording of “Der Ring des Nibelungen” in its entirety and some of the cuts are four or five seconds long, so those gaps would be irksome.  The same applies to live concert recordings as those breaches within an continuous performance become all the more glaring.

It seems like they are putting all their focus into Japan.

I honestly don't know where one can buy a unit outside Japan. As a consumer such lack of attention for the rest of the world is frustrating.

I disagreed with many marketing decision AK has made but tell you what their global product release is fairly uniform.

No matter how good a product is at the end a consumer should not dig half way around the world to get one. Great sounding product but currently sub-standard global distribution.

Sub-standard?  You're being much too kind.  It's currently non-existent.

As you’re this company’s prime advocate, this is a pretty incisive statement.

There’s no doubt the PAW Gold features phenomenal sound, but the lack of attentiveness from the manufacturer, coupled with seeming obliviousness towards the international market, led me to buy the HM901s because if I’m going to purchase a higher priced DAP… I want a guarantee of unequivocal product support.  Also, perchance there’s an immediate problem, I require the comfort of knowing there’s enough stock in existence for a speedy replacement.

Did you guys tried sending http://extremeaudiousa.com/ an email?

IMO Lotoo is basically a subsidiary of Infomedia aiming at consumer market. At the end it is still a professional recorder company. I guess Lotoo has not realized that they made a phenomenal product that stirred the world of portable audio quite a bit.

Besides being an OEM of Nagra, Infomedia didn't really try to expand its market overseas, nor did Lotoo. Have you ever heard of PAW-V, PAW-VE, L300 and L300E? They are some fantastic, affordable portable recorder that have been popular among Chinese head-fiers for quite a long time, just like the sony and marantz recorders. But I have never seen they being mentioned at head-fi.

Lotoo is quite special (not necessarily in a good way) in the world of portable audio. I guess it will take a while until the company realize that this is a brave new (and profitable) world.
