Hello Head-Fi!

It's been quite a week: first the AEC virtual ribbon cutting and now ACCENTUM Wireless, the newest member of our portable Bluetooth headphone family (and the littlest brother to our MOMENTUM series).

ACCENTUM (available in black/black and white/standstone) brings our house sound to a Bluetooth wireless over-the-ear noise cancelling headphone with all of the comfortable appointments of the MOMENTUM series. ACCENTUM features Bluetooth® 5.2 with multipoint connectivity and aptX™ HD for sound and stability that can rival a wired connection. AAC and SBC codecs are also supported, letting you tap into Sennheiser acoustics on practically any connected audio source within arm's reach.

The outstanding battery life of MOMENTUM 4 is echoed in ACCENTUM: up to 5 hours of listening with a 10 min. quick charge and up to 50 hours on a full charge. The USB-C charging cable can also act as a digital audio pathway on class-compliant devices and operating systems, letting you go "wired" when you want (or when Bluetooth is not permitted).

Speaking of audio, the 37mm dynamic transducer pushes out larger-than-life full-bodied sound that is loaded with detail and excitement without sounding too boomy or sibilant. They have been tuned for outstanding performance with the hybrid ANC mode, attenuating the distracting drone of transportation, HVAC, busy offices--even that load of laundry you have running upstairs-while providing punchy output so you can listen at safer volume levels. The anti-wind mode (selectable in the Smart Control app) and transparent mode let you tackle (or tap into) the world around you with a tap. Through Smart Control, you can apply additional EQ, firmware updates, sound modes, and more.

ACCENTUM will be available for preorder in most markets beginning September 26th, and the black colorway will ship in early Q4. Of course, we'll be here to answer any questions (features, pricing, availability, etc) with @ericpalonen

Can you turn off ANC completely?
Thx for the question! I think you are asking if you can turn off ANC and play back audio, as ANC can indeed be switched on and off. If you deactivate ANC, ACCENTUM switches into transparency mode, or its is deactivated because the headphones are powered down. ANC is otherwise always on when streaming audio. Over USB-C you can listen wired without Bluetooth, however ANC will still be on. Hope that helps!

Wish it can be turned off all the way (just personal preference since I am not a fan of it during music playback but ok during calls), I do like the button controls though, hoping to demo it at CanJam SoCal, thanks for the info.

Tried this at CanJam SoCal on Sunday, do not use ANC for music only for calls or want silence (Galaxy Buds Pro 2) so take this with a grain of salt, build quality is on par with the Sony HearOn 3 (older but same features and cost when it came out), default sound sig is V (when I opened the app and connected to the cans bass boost was enabled by default making it sound muddy to me), turned it off and tried the various preset eq settings as well as the 5 band, adjustments worked pretty well, I liked the default tuning best without bass boost enabled, ANC or Transparency no other adjustments available, transparency sounded good ANC no so much with my limited testing. Priced at around $150 would be ideal, lastly I like buttons over touch controls which is a plus. My only other over the ear bt headphones are the Jabra Elite 85H which has a more neutral sound sig, was thinking about getting the Momentum 4's but if this dips to around $120-150 I may reconsider.

Can you use a USB-C to 3.5mm cable to use the headphones with a device that only has a 3.5mm connector and no Bluetooth? Thinking specifically of a Xbox controller to game with.

I haven't tried this but I think the answer is no, as the ACCENTUM needs to be recognized as a class compliant device (which can only happen over USB to USB) to use the USB connection as a data pipe for the subsequent audio conversion.

That is kind of what I assumed but I believe there has been headphones (The new Beyern mx200) that can do the conversion in the headphone. I think...

For those looking for a Sennheiser wired/wireless solution that uses 3.5mm, at this time would have to choose MOMENTUM 4.

I just wanted to share a simple tuning that is my new default on the ACCENTUM. It gives a bit of speaker "poke" with kick drums, a non-fatiguing (to me) sparkle, and keeps busy basslines defined without robbing them of their authority.

As others get ACCENTUMs into their hands, I'd love to try some of your favorite presents here 🎚️🎚️🎚️🎚️🎚️
