You mean between stats and dynamic headphones right? Well they sound totally different. Try a pair to see if you like them...
I enjoy the speed, imaging, smoothness and clarity in which stats present instruments and voices.
Well keep on bugging henerenry to get a pair - I know he's been looking. Havent heard any orthos, sorry.

sure it gets better than this. next try 404LE then go to SR007 or Omega or HE60 then He90. SR007 driven by a capable amp (at least KGSS) can be considered as one pinnacle of head-fi, one of the way to end the headfi journey
Enjoy!
Congrats on your Stax!
I just recently joined the Stax mafia earlier when I decided to pass go and go straight to the SR007's. Right now I'm slowly building a system that's worthy of it! I'm currently using an adapter modded by Spritzer that prince of Stax off a receiver. Looking to build up the rest of my chain. It's a little frustrating knowing how under-served these cans are. But seeing the sticker price on the gear needed to run these properly has made me worker harder, so hey, good things do happen from this hobby![]()
boo...now I'm curious lol.
Curiosity got the better of me...but I've no regrets...I got this entire amp and phone for about the same price as the hd800.
mmmm...the SR007...argggghhh....perhaps one day.
How can your current set-up, amp and headphones for $1,500 be better than the HD800s? the HD800's are 1,400 by themselves, and you need a good amp, at least $500, if not $1000+ to properly run it. Thats $2000 plus to get started.
Did you use a good amp with the HD800?
I'd have to agree with jjinh...these phones are fast....oh yeah...the highs are just right on with no sibilance.

Thanks kool bubba ice ...it's really a joy to listen to these.
Welcome to the "Stax Mafia"...I'm happy to be a part of it. This combo I have seems like a really nice rig...never thought I'd feel so close to the musicians using headphones.

jj do you have Sigmas incoming? I love those headphones, at times they're my favorites of all. I'm sure you'll be very happy with them.
OP: Congrats on the new setup. Spend time to really enjoy it and try to give a Sigma or O2 a listen if you decide to upgrade later on. It sounds like you are a stat head now, which is always a great thing by me.The reason you don't see tons of posts about stats is because they take actual research to get into (well there are more reasons but that is the main one).
