Hey all,

I don't like the idea of 'downloading' music, but a few singles I want are only available in digital formats, so I have no choice this time.

I have two questions. First and most important, how the heck do I buy the single? It was released in Germany, and I'm in the US. Amazon and iTunes seem to refuse my money. I could just import the CD before.

Second, is there a difference between Amazon and iTunes sound formats? Where do they get their files from? I will be burning a CD anyway, so format compatibility isn't an issue. It does seem like MP3 is more universally accepted.

Thanks guys.

It won't help much for widely known music, but Bandcamp is excellent and has FLAC downloads available (and it's not in that list of links in the prior post).

Bandcamp is truly wonderful, full streaming of albums available, good prices, lossless available, and nearly all money goes to the artist.

I checked the sites, and they don't have the singles I'm looking for. Qobuz had one, but...

What now? Amazon and iTunes are the only ones who have the singles in question it seems. Totally silly IMO.

Thanks guys.

Buy them on CD/buy the albums on CD and rip to lossless format of your choice?

Qobuz is amazing!!! Great quality downloads -- often better than CD! And every format you can imagine. I am a Mac user and they have ALAC 24 bit downloads!!! I stopped buying from iTunes long ago and I am sorry to say, I was not happy with all my HD Tracks purchases. While I would prefer to spend my money in the US, Qobuz is just better. And with the 24 bit downloads, I stopped looking at going vinyl.

+1. I buy mostly from Qobuz and Boomkat for lossless. There is also Bleep, Musicme, JunoDownloads, or the band's Bandcamp site.
