Its rather straightforward, really.

Fat32 if you format sd card for it in windows or just format the card in the device. Use drivesort utitlity to organise your library and take your time to build a good folder structure so you can find your music fast, it will make a very big difference with this device. Avoid broken meta data with your files, since this can slow the dap down on start up and sometimes make it freeze when you update media library on it. If it freezes dont panic, hold the start up botton for 30-40 sec it will boot. You always can make it boot connecting it to a pc.

I assume drivesort is Windows only, anything for Mac?

Are there any beginners guides for how to set up your L&P device properly to avoid grief?

One of the biggest annoyances I have with L&P OS is the absence of gapless playback. This is not really an issue if you are using playlists, but for albums it can be a real distraction.

Thankfully you can use XRECODE3 to convert the individual .flac/.m4a/.wav files that make up an album into a single .flac with a .cue file that the L&P OS can read to give you 'gapless' playback but with a proper track listing.

There's a free trial version you can use to test it out, but to me the $15 paid version is a no-brainer to get the very best out of my investment in a 3-4k player.

What is the best P6PRO version LP produced so far? My current favorite is the P6PRO TI99. Wonder how the P6PRO 10AE stands up to it. Is everyone still enjoying their P6PRO 10AE and is it the best dap they ever heard?

My vote has to go to P6P 10AE Gold for my preferences. It is at the same level of performance as LP6Ti 7AE. It has better resolution, soundstage, and treble, while overall power, dynamics, note size, bass, and mids are better on the LP6Ti 7AE. 10AE Gold comes across as fairly neutral while 7AE is warmer and more mid-forward. Both are very analog.

I owned both the Silver and Gold P6P 10AEs and found Silver to be inoffensive with everything I tried. It had better mids and sounded completely natural and analog. It was an effortless sound. But Gold pulled ahead in resolution and soundstage by a significant margin in those two areas. Gold punched harder in the subbass with leaner midbass, while Silver has a fairly even balance between sub and midbass. Even though both Gold and Silver versions are TOTL for both techs and analog sound, Gold leans more technical while Silver leans more natural.

I sold my LP6 Ti to a friend after getting P6 Pro 10th AE Silver, I felt like it got more res, more air and a wider (not deeper) stage. Lp6 Ti199 had significantly more mid bass punch, which was sometimes too much with some of my iems. 10th AE Silver felt more balanced. Still Lp6 Ti199 was superior with over ears like Caldera where power headroom it had mattered.

Was comparing 10th AE Silver recently with Lp6 7th AE and while 7th AE felt slightly more higher res than LP6 Ti199 with better tonal balance, it still had lower res than 10th AE Silver especially up top. Considering bluetooth functionality and much better battery life, 10th AE feels like a better pick for iems atm (imho). Aside of technicalities and tuning, P6P 10th AE and Ti99 got some snappyness and speed that Lp6 line doesnt quite achieve, in the same time Lp6 Ti and 7th AE got more mid bass impact and got bit more thunderous and vast low end which can work really well with some iems. And ye, they can drive over ears really like only few other daps, which I believe was the main idea behind the design to beginn with.

Nice. That's amazing. Thanks for your impressions. 7AE is also my least favorite after i got TI99. Agree with both of the impressions.
