Immanis needs some kind of ribbon converter doesn’t? You can’t run straight out of EA4?

Nice piece by LP looking at their 10th Anniversary: http://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/jvvvcWDFpa6p9Hoq2dayXQ

Fine luxury and happy January 6, 2025 13:04
After a year, it's like drawing a circle. The equatorial circumference is 40,000 kilometers, and you can walk around the earth for a year. In 2024, we finished the 10th lap and returned to the origin. We were full of scenery and the joy of growth along the way.

Starting from 4497, plug-in flagship DAP-E7

After more than 2 years of finessing, in early 2024, Lebi's first DAP-E7 with a detachable audio module design was launched. E represents both "Exclusive" and "Exchange", and 7 represents the highest positioning of the series at this stage. Its digital turntable, screen, FPGA and Bluetooth modules are fixed, and the decoding ear module can be replaced. This module leads the industry in the large PCBA area, and the first module is AKM out-of-print flagship DAC - AK4497.

1736254090372.png

The reason for choosing 4497 is that we think it is the most balanced, the most comfortable to listen to, and most suitable DAC for portable phones in the AKM flagship core. Our goal is to make the E7 the best sound quality in the Delta-Sigma chip DAP. After 7 versions of major changes, the E7 has the highest performance of the whole machine (4 497 selected version) THD+N reaches -120dB, dynamic >130dB, tapping the chip potential to the limit. At the same time, precise operation and discharge voltage adjustment and 3 tuning modes (harmonic/high dynamic/low distortion) are also added to increase adaptability.

1736254109532.png

The second audio card of E7 will adopt the AD1955 core with noble tone and unique "perfect differential linear recovery" characteristics, which is the first time that the DAC has been applied to portable DAP; the third audio card is the TI classic flagship core - PCM1794A, and the tone can complement AD1955. It is convenient for music fans to combine different tuning methods. E7 in 2025 will be more powerful and comprehensive.

Long-lasting high power, can push the small tail with big ears - W2 Ultra

In mid-2024, the "Ultra" of the W2 series debuted, bringing a burst of "fierce" firepower output to burning friends in the hot summer.

1736254147821.png

Compared with W2-131, W2Ultra has made a comprehensive evolution except for the use of two CS43131 DAC and FPGA chips: the main optimization includes circuit layout and power supply design, and the special large CNC heat dissipation aluminum sheet can output 800mW@32Ω power for a long time; The voltage of E7 can be adjusted by technology. W2U has ±4.5V/±6V two-speed voltage adjustment. Combined with N5005/HD800/Dawu and other new special tuning firmware, it can freely switch and match between high control force and high thrust.

1736254168906.png

Although the power output is comparable to that of a large-scale "brick machine", the W2U is still controlled in the category of small and light. The size and weight of the body are consistent with the W4 series. The signal-to-noise ratio of 133dB with low resistance and high sensitivity in-ear is the same "0" background noise, which is a "pocket weapon" for mobile phone hifi players who pay attention to portability and require high thrust. ".

Bold and colorful, flagship portable high-power nutube amplifier - EA4

In late 2024, Lebi's portable earpiece debuted, and also the uncompromising flagship in all aspects - EA4 debuted. Its core materials include 6 fine-paired low internal resistance Panasonic original 18650 cells, two Korg Nutube 6P1 tubes, 8 TO252 high-power triodes, etc.

1736254215695.png

As a pure electron tube earpiece, EA4 has two major characteristics of "high gallbladder" and "strong thrust": it adopts a fine-tuned gallbladder pre-stage circuit + stone back-stage, gallbladder full design, high-power and wide-spacing separate earpiece is supplemented by aluminum nitride thermal conductive sheet, and the thrust of the whole machine can reach up to 6800mW@32Ω, and the electron tube mold The signal-to-noise ratio of 123dB can also be maintained. In the dark background, it is the combination of "power" and "beauty".

1736254236375.png

In order to improve practicality, EA4 has also made great efforts to reduce the microphone effect, making it more stable to carry and use when going out; in terms of playability, EA4 has 4 kinds of mellow and sweet tone, and the earphone power supply can be selected ±13V or ±15V, and there are also 11 segments of A-AB earphone static current adjustable, with a total of more than 100 tunings. How to play.

Guys, does the sound depend on the firmware version on the p6pro? My black p6pro came with 1.0.0.7 from 2021 and the seller says that this is the best sounding firmware for him.

Perhaps someone can confirm or deny this from your experience.

[Answering Friends' Questions] Lebi P6 Series Small Signal Reduction Performance Test

As the first DAP with fully separate R2R architecture on the market, the P6 has been on the market for 5 years. With the recent release of the masterpiece P6Pro 10th, the series has also brought the performance of R2R to the extreme in the portable category.
With the successive arrival of P6PRO 10th, some burning friends are still interested in the technology accumulated in the research and development of R2R in the past five years. If you want to know what the P6 series small signal reduction ability of the resistance fully separate R2R architecture is, this article will give data actual measurement and answers.

Taking Hi-End-level R2R decoding as the benchmark, 123dB is not "real dynamics"?
We learned that TotalDAC, a well-known French R2R DAC manufacturer, posted D1-Core's -120db sine wave FFT on its official website (as shown in the figure below, the picture has a link)

In fact, the dynamic range announced by the P6 series has expressed the ability to restore small signals, because the test principle of the dynamic range is to take the maximum output as the test reference 0db benchmark, and then test the small signal THD+N, such as -60db, and then subtract the attenuation 60dB to the dynamic range. This is measured Try to prevent cheating.

The figure below shows the A-combed THD+N AES17@20KBW of P6PRO's -60dB, so the dynamic range is 63dB+60dB=123dB, but in fact, this is not the real "dynamic range" of P6PRO, because it can be seen that -60dB is still However, there is a little harmonic weight, which will obviously lower the dynamic range.

So what will happen if the small signal continues to be reduced to -120dB? We continue to enlarge the Y axis of FFT. It can be seen that the test excitation signal of 1KHz -120db measured the peak value is about -119dB, and there is still a large contrast from the noise line below (32K FFT length) -155dB, and the THD+N at this time is -8dB. If we test the dynamic range according to -120dB small signal is used as a test stimulus of the dynamic range, so the dynamic range of P6PRO is 8dB+120dB=128dB, and the test specification of the dynamic range was formulated earlier. At that time, the resolution of the equipment was not high, so -60 was taken as the small signal test standard, so we It is still to announce the dynamic range of the P6 series according to industry standards, but after all, P6PRO is just a portable discrete R2R decoding ear player designed many years ago. It has more digital broadcast, earbud and display driver and other circuits than pure decoding, so it also needs to balance the power consumption volume of the whole machine, etc., and separate from the high-end desktop R2 There is still a certain gap between R pure decoding.

Portable fully separate R2R DAP can also have a dark background? P6 background noise actual measurement
Put another picture of the background noise that everyone cares about. After all, this is a link that has a great impact on the hearing. This is the P6PRO maximum volume (60) 3.5mm PO port to play muted files with a background noise of 1.25uV.

Then don't forget that the volume control circuit of the P6 series is a self-developed resistance matrix adjustment (some people say it is R2R volume), so let's try to turn down the volume: adjust the P6PRO volume to 50, and the test background noise result is 840nV. This reflects the advantages of self-developed resistance matrix adjustment. Because it is the attenuated analog circuit volume, that is, the decoded signal output and noise are attenuated, and the remaining noise is only the underlying noise of the ear-end circuit. Of course, it is meaningless to lower the volume test, because the base input noise of APX-555 is close to 800nV. To test the actual minimum background noise, an amplifier must be added to amplify the noise equiroto and then convert it.

Technology is the core guarantee of sound quality, and the ability to restore small signals is only one of the small details that reflect performance. I hope you can learn more about the P6 series through this article "Peeping in the Tube". If you have more technical questions about this series and R2R, please feel free to consult us. Thank you!

I will say that the EA4 10AE breathes new life into the HD800/S. And it is spectacular out of the LP5 10AE. I wonder if it will be the same for the P6Pro 10AE? :)

IMG_9787.jpeg
Maybe I'd need to try the 10AE version, but I thought HD800S sounded a little flat and shouty out of the standard EA4 compared to the ZMF Aegis I normally use for that headphone. Caldera sounded pretty nice with it though, and all my IEMs are wonderful!

Anyway, I've got an EA4 tour unit for a few days, but the battery is dying and it will not charge with the included USBC-USBC cable. This is with various 20W Apple USB-C chargers, all the way up to a 96W MacBook Pro charger.

Is there any trick to get the unit to charge?
