Def going to look into some of these recommendations...
Do any of these artists incorporate any electronica-influenced sampling/sounds? Maybe some dn'b or breakbeats?
How about strictly instrumental hip-hop?

Definitely check out Prefuse 73. One Word Extinguisher for breakbeat B-Boy inspired music and Surrounded by Silence (which has some great instrumentals).

Yeah, ive heard some fo Prefuse's stuff as well as RJD2's-great stuff-need to get some full albums.
Anyone hear Omid? His album "Monolith" is incredible-pure instrumental "blip-hop".

I really like DJ Shadows "Endtriducing"...does he have any other good albums?

don't even bother getting talib (unless it's like his first or blackstar with mos def) he fell off and his last album "the beautiful struggle" sucked really bad, more like the ugly struggle of his declining state (yes it was that bad at least to me) i couldn't even listen to it all the way smh

Is Mike Shinoda's side project, Fort Minor - The Rising Tied, any good?

I've heard "remember the name" and it was pretty good. I hear the rest of the album is pretty solid. Mike holds up pretty well against real rappers.

Few of my favorite tracks: Freedom Of Speech, 4th Branch, Dance with the devil.

Also, didnt see them mentioned, but I just skimmed parts of the thread:

A Tribe Called Quest and some older Wu-Tang also comes to mind. (36 Chambers)

edit: oops, you even mentioned tribe in your first post. oh well, its 3am. :p

As far as electro-hip hop, check out Blockhead (Music by Cavelight and his newest album Downtown Science- theres also an intense live session hes been passing around the net, pm me for a link. even though hes been pushing it himself, I dont know the rules here and would rather not just outright post it.

black on both sides by mos def has to be on the the most intelligent hip hop albums there is. it gets political, and very real, but it's done amazingly.
black on both sides along the miseducation of lauryn hill are staples in great hip hop.

Mos Def - Black on Both Sides - Its probably my favorite hip hop album I have
Talib Kwali - Yes, the beautiful struggle isn't the best, but there are some good tracks on it
Jurassic 5
Jedi Mind Tricks
Deltron/Del Tha Funkee Homosapien

and the only original contribution I can make (I don't think anyone mentioned it), Dilated Peoples. Good stuff.
