If you like 'Mines', you'd probably like Knopf's other side project 'Ramona Falls'. It's more intimate and ever so slightly more 'confessional', but still quietly strange.I'd be remiss to not suggest The Magnetic Fields '69 Love Songs'. It's just....words fail.As for NMHotel, it requires more than a first blush. 'Oh Comely' and 'King of Carrot Flowers Pt. 1' opened up the album for me.'Oh Comely' has some of the most powerfully honest sexual imagery I've heard in Indie rock: "Your father made fetuses with flesh-licking ladies, while you and your mother were asleep in the trailer park, thunderous sparks from the dark of the stadium, the music and medicine you needed for comforting, so make all your fat fleshy fingers to moving and pluck all your silly strings, and bend all your notes for me, soft silly music is meaningful magical, the movements were beautiful, all in your ovaries, all of them milking like green fleshy flowers while powerful pistons were sugary sweet machines, smelling of semen all under the garden was all you were needing when you still believed in me..."

thank you very much for the recommendation, i am checking out the 69 love songs. They are really 69 love songs! in 3 discs! how amzing. can't wait to hear how much love is going on there.

Did you ever get any farther into '69 Love Songs'?

I've tried to spread the love about 'Mines' and it's a hit-or-miss affair.  'Mines' is why I got into headphones a few weeks/month ago.

Hello, I have listened the 69 love songs for some time. However, I prefer magnetic fields new album  Realism. I think for some reason I always prefer newer music, even for the same band. For the mines, I really really like the " black queen acid" and also the other songs.

Seconded ^

Finally decided to check out Titus Andronicus - Monitor and it is phenomenal on first listen!  I can't judge its lasting power but I wholeheartedly recommend giving it a try.

My favorite indie group has to be Major Grey.  Both their EP and self titled album are awesome.  The lead signer's solo work is really good as well.

The other indie bands I like already got a mention earlier [Arcade Fire, and Apples in Stereo].  I would mention Metric and Tegan and Sara but I'm not sure if they are still considered indie.

I keep meaning to get some Titus Adronicus, but it doesn't catch me right away.

The other stuff is new enough that it's getting into 80s influenced stuff - and I hate 80s music. Interpol, etc.

Recently I've started getting into Das Racist (hip-hop, but good - and I HATE hip hop), Blood Red Shoes, Foals, Blitzen Trapper, Les Savy Fav.

Earlier this year, I was really into Slow Club and Sleigh Bells.

I had listened to a couple Titus Andronicus songs before and it didn't really interest me, but the album as a whole is so much more powerful.

I heard several Titus Adronicus songs, not impressed. but I like interpol, blitzen trapper and foals you mentioned. Do you mean Das racist is hip hop for good? I have not listened for normal hip hop for years.
