Hi, I'm looking for some advice on high end headphones.

I currently own a Chord Hugo and some Audeze LCDX and Grado RS1i. I like the physical lightness and excitement of the Grado, but like the warmth and depth of the Audeze.

Trouble is, I find the Audeze to be the better headphone but I just prefer wearing the Grados. They're really comfy and versatile to use anywhere in the house. The Audeze are more of a struggle to wear as they're heavy and they can fall off if you move your head quickly. They are truly luxurious headphones, but a little impractical for me, unless I sit still in an optimum position.

Also, I once owned the Grado GS1000i but found these just so bright, but liked the spacious sound. I did like their lightweight design, however.

Worth noting, I don't really fancy the Stax route due to the massive energisers on the desktop, and also the cost of the top models.

I noticed that Grado have introduced the new E range, and wondered whether the PS1000e would be perfect? Or, are they also nearly as heavy as the Audeze? What about any of the other new models?

Are there any other brands that you would recommend trying? Thanks.

I know EXACTLY what you are saying about the comfort and the warmth/depth of the sound as I've been through my fair share of Hifiman and Audeze models. I understand your comment about the LCDs sounding luxurious but not quite to the level of being energetic or exactly life like excitement. It was one of the reasons why I got rid of LCD-3.

I would HIGHLY recommend you to try Sennheiser HD800. They are better in comfort than Audezes overall. They weight less. They don't get loose if you tilt your head to the side or ear pads get loose if you look down. The HD800 sit much better on your head as you go about.

HD800 also has better mids than my Audeze LCD-3 and everything sounds much more natural on the HD800. If you liked the depth of LCDs, wait until you try the HD800. Treble is way more lifelike than Audeze. Also, HD800 is not bright at all. As far as bass goes, I much prefer the bass of HD800 over LCD-3…and this is coming from a huge electronic, hip hop and rap fan.

I would put the HD800 at the top of your list to try.
