$148 is too much for Turbines, yes.  You're better off importing something else like the Atrio M5s if you must pay 150 bucks.  It's pretty simple, you can get better sound than Turbines for $150.  The Atrio Xs I mentioned above are 80 usd and are quite a bit better than the Turbines overall.

I like Turbines, don't get me wrong...just at less than $100 and preferably the $75 I got mine at but I still prefer the Atrio Xs.

I cant find any reviews on the Atrios are they well known?

The $150 M5 Atrios are well known around here...tons of reviews.  The $80 Atrio Xs are brand new and I'm pretty sure I'm the only one with a pair, so all you get is me.  :)

Depends which one's you want.  I prefer the Xs because of the cost, but you can buy them at JR or through Amazon.

Atrio M5 Pro:

Atrio X (the ones I've got now):

Just ordered the pair you have shipping from the US. Hopefully i don't get charged import taxes cause that would suck.

Thanks for the recommendation, i'll give you my review when i get them

Got them last week I'm not really impressed with them to be honest. Fedex taxed me as well so i ended up spending £20 more -__-

  1. Bad Cable Management - Wires are easily tangled
  2. Low Volume - compared with the beats even my lowest bitrate songs played reasonably 'louder'
  3. Not enough Bass Mids/Highs - I don't notice any bass with the songs i listened to although some high bass songs i did.
  4. No lock on the wire jack - causes it to unplug at the slightest movement (very annoying)
  5. Design - not too important  but the design and color could have been more modern

Guess its not so easy trying to find the right earphones.

If you're saying you didn't get any bass with a pair of Atrios, then you didn't have a good fit.  They are definitely sensitive to insertion depth and seal...moreso than most other headphones I've tried.  Once you are dialed in though, they pound.  If there is one thing these are not...is bass light.  They have significantly more than most other IEMS.

Your other complaints are weird design complaints.  I've tried about 20 other headphones in the past month and their cable is probably in the top 5 or so.  What is a lock on a wire jack?

Dude. Get the atrio M5. Bass monsters without equal in the IEM world (maybe IE8 but I've never heard them before). You can feel your eyes shake when you have them on.

check out the velodyne vpulse. I haven't tried them but I plan on getting them before too long. They come from a subwoofer company. They are supposed to have awesome bass and still have good mids and highs. I've also seen many people say that they are better than the klipsch s4i.
