Let me see: I can sleep with my UM2's but not with my cans. Oh but I love my cans with my LD III. Do I have to choose?

no love, no hate for me. Of course I dont prefer to use them when I'm home but I sometimes need their portability and isolation. So, the answer of the question is "yes" for me.

I'm on the road a lot (montego bay jamaica) and don't like bringing my K-701's with me. IEM's are the way to go. I really enjoy them on the beach with a cool red stripe in my hand and listening to the Grateful Dead as the sun goes down. May not be the same as a tube amp and my 701's, but it ain't bad. Count me in as a strong yes!

Love 'em for on the road, very useful. At home I stick to my cans.

Good for getting rid of the noise of things like airplane engines. Bad for walking around or when people are talking to me (so I use other things instead). The presence of tips in my ears gets to me sometimes though. Other times I don't notice them at all.

I voted no, I like having full sized headphones or clips or even earbuds. Not something that if the volume is too loud I could lose my hearing very quickly.

I still have a pair of ER6i somewhere but I'm not regretting that I have stopped raping my ears with that evil invention: the iem.

I find that IEMs allow me to listen at much lower volumes than I would otherwise, since the Etys have such great isolation and resolution. If I use a comparable-impedance full sized can, I end up having to crank them much higher to achieve the desired result.
