Does it make sense to get a portable AMP (like the next Fiio) for inears in general? Exspecially the IE8 ?

Several IEMs actually require amplification to perform, and I believe that the IE8 is one such beast. I know that my PL50s, humble though they may be, benefit from being plugged into my D4. If I had to identify a complaint re amping IEMs, it would hiss, but I havent had any problems - this might only be a problem with the more expensive in-ears.
