Im looking for something mellow for certain stuff I listen to and it looks to fit the bill.

I'd drop down to red filters, and if it's still too much, try pink filters. I'm not a big bass fan when it's so much it overwhelms the rest of a balanced recording. The standard black filters were WAY too much for me off the bat, and still are. That's just not the music I listen to.

As I mentioned a few posts back, pink / pink are to die for on well recorded classical after burn-in. Just make sure you're getting a good seal.

I have now finished IMO the burn in well over 125+ hrs by now. I am now filter rolling, as I need a combination that will work well for all my library.
I had been running Red/Black for a few day but after your suggestion I will try the Pink/Pink combination for a day or two, having recently tried Red/Gold which I liked but I am still experimenting

So far it seems most combinations are acceptable to me (confession Black/black is just a bid to muddy for me now and I love my bass)

Anyone tried the gold filter / blue tip yet? I asked Bob what he figured would be a more mids-based sound with still somewhat sparkly trebel and those were his reccomendations. I find they sound absolutely amazing, though maybe I should switch out the gold for the red filter for a bit less bass...

The gold filter appears to be a diffused version of the black, so anything other than the black will have less bass. Bob very much likes his bass

Gotcha; do you think the red filter would be a better option for me going by what I'm after?

Only one way to find out! :D

You might also consider going all the way down to the pink. It'll take a second for your brain to adjust, but I've found it very balanced, and it's not like going back up to red is hard ;) :)

A few months ago I quit smoking (after ~40+ years) but this hobby is even worse, lol. I've had the Dunu DK-4001 on my shortlist for a while until some reviewer put them in the same tier as the Zenith which I own and love and now this. Does anyone here own those Dunus or the Acoustune 1670/1650 and/or CA Atlas and can give me an idea on how they compare to the Aten? TIA!

I don't have the R2 sadly (saving my powder for the Rah), but I do have the R1Z, Dunu DK-4001, Acoustune 1650cu and CA Atlas. If you need to know how any compare to the Zenith, drop me a PM.

Could you let us all know

I had been interested in the Acoustune IEM's having come across them at Can Jam and the CA Atlas, but they were not ideal listening conditions, plus once I became aware of the IMR R1-Zenith I felt probably no need to go to the Acoustune as these had the design an (Stock B) the price more acceptable.

All plans went out the window onc I started to read about before purchasing the R2's

Would be nice to know how the CA Atlas and Acoustune fare against R1 Z

Do we have any info on the Rah yet? I was thinking of getting the R2 but the Rah, it seems, will be an upgrade.
The Rah will feature the same driver setup as the R2 plus a new planar driver. Bob stated it will the the best sounding IEM he can produce with current technology. So yes, it should definitely be an Upgrade. The price will be between 350 and 550 pound depending on how many preorders he can get.
