Yeah, just got that too. Nice to finally hear something ... but it also doesn't say much that is concrete.

To be fair, Bob never said that IMR designed or built (or even tuned) the Dawn.

I've been getting all excited over a bunch of new DD iems thinking these new DDs are really great then today I put the Ozar in... Taken back to school again, superlatives aren't enough for how good the Ozar is and I only paid £99 from IMR ebay store.
If the New World order at IMR is conventional instock store these need to be the Gateway Bargain item.

As someone who only has experience with the OZAR and EDP ACE, I haven't got close to the spend a lot of you have on IMR products... Or the grief it's obviously brought to many of you. I did have issues back in the Trinity Audio days tho, which put me off dealing with the company, and Bob. Gave them a second chance with IMR and tbh, the OZAR has turned out my favourite IEM since I began my own audio journey... and in turn, saved me from further spend on other sets, but the reasoning for giving them a second chance, was the posts defending Bob during in his time with Trinity, claiming he wasn't to blame for the madness that led to it failing. Some identical issues though have followed him to IMR. There's no coincidence there.

Some specialists are clearly gifted at what they do, but don't focus enough on the present and are too quick to try better the last product or break new ground... which in turn has a negative effect on the business side and the best interests of the customers spending hundreds (thousands) of pounds.

I've no doubt Bob's a nice guy, he's been nice enough in my exchanges with him... but I'd expect that of any retailer. There are many posts giving him a pass for poor business decisions and awful customer service, but at the end of the day and as far as I know, he's not anyone's close friend, he runs a shop. Yeah, maybe a back and forth relationship thru the common enjoyment of this hobby exists with many, but it's still a business relationship when cash changes hands (to him). Many individual product launches seem equivalent to a bad Kickstarter, when in reality it's people prepaying for that product in good faith it'll arrive.

The new business model to sell just what's in stock should have been entertained WELL before now. He outlined his troubles with manufacturing and supplies, but I've read many similar official updates with excuses throughout the thread... and even more from Head-Fi'ers reporting their personal written interactions.

The issues blaming Royal Mail, tracking numbers, lost packages, refunds, etc. and in general, excuses that seem to change like the wind with individual transactions, are far from professional. It could be argued that paying money up front for a future product is a risk, but it shouldn't be, especially when you advertise a limited quantity for sale to those interested in this hobby. Addressing that he's let people down is commendable, but when it's gotten to a stage many don't believe you, it becomes an empty gesture. All of this needs seriously addressed going forward as I feel for those of you who have been let down and out of pocket. Can't keep happening.

On a side note, IF the IMR Dawn is the exact same IEM that can be bought from Alibaba, with no retuning or internals, that would be really poor of Bob. It will be interesting if it gets proven they are the same (I'd hope not)... not as much for the huge markup of an IEM that was found and rebranded, which anyone has the right to do... but because it goes against the entire business model of Bob producing bespoke, personally tuned products under his IMR brand, straight to loyal customers, some taking it is a replacement product.

Great, thoughtful post.

I think I'd only quibble with this, a bit. Lately the customer service (including the routine action of answering emails) hasn't been great, but in my 2+ years in the IMR sphere, it has been quite good on the whole.

I could be wrong, but I don't think ChiFi companies would offer anything close to what Bob (and Brandon) have done. Hopefully this element of IMR trends back up too.
