Does anyone know if Ace will be shipping with the new Cable included with the Pro's?
Just a bit concerned regarding the problem's people are having! I like the one's which came with B.C,SOG ect.. I normally change out cables straight away with most of the IEM'S i buy but the IMR cable's & Mest mk2 cable's i use and like them both very much! As the old saying goes? 'Why fix something that isn't broke"
I know some of you had issues with the previous IMR cable but, the ones coming with DM & Avalon seem to be disliked a lot more! Hopefully they are just for the "Pro" model's and Ace will ship with the previous cable?

20220222_110442.jpg20220222_113024.jpgAfter a longish wait, it's a little surreal Avalon is finally here in the flesh.

I've had a quick listen with the standard black filters, 2.5mm balanced and using the Acro L1000.

Definately not dark through an akm dac. I'm liking it out of the box already. The soundstage is fantastic. Drums are fantastic, hi hats sparkle.

This track has great live atmosphere and performance with the Avalons out of the box.

Will burn some more before assessing vocals.

Looking forward to trying these with the DX312.
Will be definately trying bass performance through Avalons with a burr-brown dac. Love the bass through burr-brown.

Had a bit of a happy accident. Was down at the local electronics store, and wanted to check out the size of these tips just for the hell of it. Ended up ripping the box, so I decided to buy them. JVC Spiral Dots with a wide bore opening for about $15 for 6. "For a clear sound experience" it says on the box. The synergy on the Dark Matter is amazing. The fit is snug, the bone conduction sensation more prevalent, the presence, more, well.... present.

"Clear" is goddamn right. For me at least, the wider bore opens the flow of the music resulting in an even more holographic experience. I'm not even up to 100 hours yet. But as I stated earlier, I'm not even concerned with the burn-in. Just enjoying the hell out of these things right away. The way the bass is subtly (and not so subtly) conferred is amazing. Was listening to a Pink Floyd bootleg from 6/75 and the richness of Waters' bass as it intertwined with Gilmour's guitar and those wonderful female singers on Any Colour You Like was a sight to behold. Yes, synesthesia was achieved. Back to your regularly scheduled programming.

How is the tuning?

Do you think Avalon will be an upgrade over the Semper, or just different?
Bob told me that it's supposed to be an upgrade, but it's too early to tell. The Avalon needs to be burned-in, first.
However, from the early listening impressions I don't think it will be. Different tuning. Avalon is warmer than Semper.

Too early to say. I just started the burn-in. So far, it is different. For me Semper is still king

Do you find Avalon to be warmer than Semper? I don't. Maybe the sound will change

Going by vocals alone it sounds warmer to me, but I will compare again after a few more days of burn-in and changing the Avalon to the same configuration I have on my Semper.

How is the tuning?
Still using the standard black filters right now. I'm getting very good detail through the range.

Was listening to Deeper by Pete Belasco a moment ago.
Getting nice low bass grunt, vocals are not recessed, upper end sparkle through out the soundstage.

Using Tidal on RU6.

I would give it a W tune, but not far from balance right now. Very good clarity. I haven't experienced any bass bloom even with the black filters so far.

Having a CNT on board, I suspect to hear some changes during the burn in like with my other CNT iems.
