I'm Done (Vsonic GR02 Bass Edition) VS GR06

Yeah, the gr04 flagship is the closest to gr07. It's slight behind in extension on both ends but does have almost spot-on decay times and drums sound awesome with it. One thing to mention though is that due to it mid-centric presentation its soundstage is more intimate, which I like - it's great for relaxing and enjoying the music as it has a fairly smooth and non-fatiguing presentation even at higher volume. As far as ease to drive goes - it's not very hard, so you won't need an amp as just like with the gr07 it doesn't scale a lot when amped. A decent DAP will have enough power to drive it.

I think I'm gonna love it then. The important thing is that relaxing doesn't translate in veiled/dark, does it?

How well does the GR02 BE work with K-Pop music? I think these songs are a good representation...

upbeat:

ballad:

Something that brings out vocals and allows me to hear those little details would be nice. The background music shouldn't overpower vocals, especially in ballads. Extended high notes (first song is FILLED with them) are very common in K-pop so I don't want to cringe while listening to them. Are the GR02's for me? Sorry for the lack of proper sound terms, I'm a newbie at this stuff.

One more thing. The link that OP provided, http://www.ebay.com/itm/VSONIC-GR02-ProII-Silver-Cable-Flagship-Edition-Low-Frequency-IEM-Earphone-/380376622782?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item589036a6be only has 6 eartips that come with it but the official site says there's supposed to be much more?

I gave your listed songs a listen and found they sounded excellent through the GR02 BE. All the vocals were very upfront and the high notes were not sibilant at all, the 2nd track had excellent bass impact while retaining the vocal performance. The ballad was very clear and detailed while the intstrument sounded excellent as well.

This is the eBay time you should buy:

Hope that helps.

Wow. Thank you so much! I really appreciate it, I didn't think anyone would actually test it out for me! Making an account here was a good idea after all.

I'm not doubting you or anything but that eBay link is dependable, right? (meaning it comes with no faults, all accessories included, etc) I wouldn't want to deal with any issues in the future.

I just got my GR02 BE's in the mail today and they're great but I can't put the other eartips on.

The hole on the foam hybrid eartips and the clear soft plastic eartips are too small for the wide nozzle and I can't get put them on.
Any help? Am I doing something wrong?

what I did, I turn it inside out so that I can easily hold the tip's shaft and force it in to the nozzle, it will fit and slide in softly once you do it that way. :D

The GR06 lacks clarity and sounds pretty muffled without EQ to the treble. With some extra treble they sound much more balanced and hifi without becoming harsh.
There is a EQ program called TB EZQ that I feel almost where made for this in-ear. You can't believe how much better the GR06 sounds with this software correcting the unrefinement of the mids and treble perfectly. Normal EQ works pretty good but this is something different

If you guys want the Gr02 Bass Edition for $36 with the L jack and 14 pairs of tips buy it off lendmeurears on Ebay. I asked him if it had the L jack or the J jack, I can confirm he responded saying it comes with the L jack.

I thought I'd just chime in here and add my opinion since I own both the GR06 and GR02, as well as a couple other comparables.

First off, I really don't understand anyone that says the GR02 is better than the GR06.  The GR06, to me, is clearly a higher quality IEM.  It doesn't lack anything, it does everything well.  Good bass, good extension, good soundstage, smooth midrange, nice highs, not too forward, not too laidback, good presence.  And it has a better fit and a better cable than the GR02 (although I think that cable is fine).  I don't think it excels at anything in particular, but that's a good thing to me.  I don't like analytical but I want something lively.  The GR06 just does that better than anything I've heard under $200 (haven't heard the GR07 though).

Now, the GR02 is a nice IEM.  I actually like it a lot.  It replaced my previous favorite fun headphone, my Fischer Audio Eternas.  These Vsonics are just a class above.  I LOVE it for the price of $36 (almost half what the Eternas cost, and I thought those were an amazing value).

I actually recommend the GR02 way more often than the GR06, because non-heaphone enthusiasts find it hard enough to justify spending $36.  Sometimes $70 just seems insane to them.  I WISH I was that way with sound equipment.  Is the GR06 twice as good as the GR02?  No.  So for value alone, GR02 is the "better" IEM.

But, in my opinion the only thing that the GR02 does better than the GR06 is bass extension, and it's only slightly better.  Yes, it has slightly more bass as well, but I don't consider that a plus.  I prefer the bass quantity of the GR06 better.  Some may like the extra bass the GR02 offers, although it's still no bass monster.

The GR06 is just a smoother sound overall.  The more I listen, the more I appreciate this.  If I could compare it to anything, I'd say it's like how the Sennheiser house sound is.  It doesn't blow you away, but it makes you smile.  GR06 also beats the GR02 in soundstage and highs.  If the GR02 has a particular fault I'd say it's a grainy mid-high sound.  It's quite noticeable when A/Bing the two phones.

So, for what it's worth, I'd say you can't go wrong with the GR02 for $36 or less.  It's a crazy good value and a really nice IEM.  But the GR06 is better, I think.  If you have the extra cash I'd say spring for the GR06.
