I'm about to buy the hje900's for $90.. stop me?

I picked up a pair for 80$ yesterday or the day before. Thanks for creating this thread, Hungry Hippo.

I'm sure this is mentioned in the thread made by Orange1, but if someone wants to save me the trouble of reading through the entire thing (which I'll probably do anyway), what are some good foam tips that will fit on the nozzles of these IEMs?

Also, what are the filters like? From the pictures I've seen, they look like cloth filters. I ask because I really like having the peace of mind of knowing what to realistically expect in terms of the life span of an item. Everything points to these IEMs having as permanent as is realistically possible place in my collection of music appreciation tools. Replaceable cable, durable housings, etc. I'm going to be careful with the filters no matter what they're made of, but are they replaceable? I noticed in rawster's review he said he took them off, put some foam in, and replaced them. I guess I'll find out when I get them later next week, so don't feel obliged to look up the answers

On a related note, it makes me happy, that after returning to HF after a long break, you are all as wonderful as usual.

well to anwer your question about the filter. mine came off the first time i tried putting a tip on for one of the ears. it was like a little fabric like? idk how to describe it. you can simply just put it back on the nozzle and try to put your tip back on and if you do it right, the filter will lock inplace and there will be no ill effects.  also curious as to what are the best tips...

After reading the appreciation thread alot of guys were suggesting the AUDEO Silicone tips.  I just got mine and they fit better than the stock tips.  I use the small stock tips so I ordered the small AUDEO tips -- They fit perfectly.  The sound seems to have opened up a bit, but hell I was drinking - LOL.  Seriously they sound as good as stock and probably better.  I need to spend more time with them.  Here are some photos.  I forgot to mention that they are a bitch to get onto the nozzles as they are a smaller diameter than the stock tips.

Many people, including myself are having great luck with Melectronics M9 or M11 tips. I would say go for the M9 set. They have two different sets of double changes. The grey ones take down the bass a half a notch.

link please?

Link to the tips?

Here are the set of 4 different tips. I made a bit of a mistake. Apparently they sell the gray "balanced" tips separately. It is the second link:

M9 Set

M9 Balanced(3 pairs)

Here is the set for the M11+

M11+ Black

M11+ Clear

They also sell a 5 piece set that went on the original M11.There are a couple of different types of tips in that kit vs. the new set.

I would suggest the M11+ 10 piece set and the set of M9 gray "balanced". You should be able to find something you like. There is a sale on the website. Go the the home page and get the 25% off coupon and the $2.95 shipping coupon code.

edit: I just noticed they are out of stock on the gray M9 tips

Ah, thanks very much. I hope that if some harm comes to the filter, I'll have a way to remedy it.

I have some of these! I'll ask my brother to send them to me. Thanks for the heads up!

Thanks so much for this information! I just ordered 3-pairs of the medium size from Comply. I very much enjoyed the sound signature that foam tips gave me on the MPTG. On the Comply site, when I selected HJE900 it said that the correct tips were the T400s. I bought the T500s because I trust your experience, and the difference between them (as detailed by the Jeff K) isn't too dramatic, especially if you choose something that is too small (which is easier to make functional than something that is too big).

edit: Oops! It seems as if I didn't actually place the order yet. Now that I have the choice, should I go with the Comply site's recommendation? I might go with the Tx-400, or Tx-500 (depending on whether I go with the 400 or 500 series), since I'd rather not have to risk cleaning cloth filters!
