I'm a non believer in amps. Is there really a big difference?

This is the exact model I bought myself from miniature audio and I absolutely love it. A friend of mine recommended me to them and I checked out their return policy and figured, what the heck, might as well give it a go!

The sound quality is amazing and I use the headphone amp just as much as my USB Dac.

I love that its two for one, and the quality doesn't suffer. Great product IMO.

The macbook pro only has the newer expresscard slot, and they dont make any audiocards for it yet; it's mostly used for external SATA cards and memory card readers so far.

I was really considering a Microshar uAmp107 just because its on sale for $80 on the microshar website and because Skylab recommended it for being a really good value. The Fubar III has got me interested, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to dedicate that much money to an amp as a college student. Thanks for everyone's replies so far.

Just a thought on the Microshar ... the case is the standard somewhat thick plastic case, and not easy to use on the go (if you are going to take it with you). I got mine for $65 (intro offer) and sold it. It's a fine amp if you are going to stay put, for $80. But I'd save a little more and check some of the other smaller (meaning thinner) portable amps that Skylab and others rate highly. Some are just about $100. For another $20, get an amp that is easy to move around with. I like my Penguin Classic for that (only $49), since it's light and relatively thin (in mint tin). And it sounded just as good as the Microshar to my ears. Again, just a thought before you buy a Microshar.

I would second purchasing a cMoy design before the Microshar from all reviews I have found in the past. Maybe the Leckerton UHA-3 or a meier headsix or XXS could be the step up after that.

I scrapped the idea of getting a Microshar and now I'm leaning towards jumping straight for a Leckerton UHA-3 based on all of the positive reviews. I'm really looking for some decent bass improvement and Skylab's review stated that as one of its really strong points, not to mention the price is a bit easier to swallow than some of the others.
