igrado mods

Ok Did the Mod.
Everything except putting holes in the ear pads.
Made a big difference in the mids and highs. More realistic.

A worth while mod.
Funny how a little foam can cause this frequency attenuation.

If you get a pair and do the mod, they sound as good as SR60s.

Well proof is in the pudding so I tried my pipe idea and it work perfectly.
No guess work as the holes in the pads will be perfect.

Here is the pipe with the sharpened end done on a sander.

Here is the result of using the pipe, hammer and block of wood to make the holes in the ear pads.

Finally here is how they look on the iGrados

Just take a small flathead screwdriver and work it a little while pulling on the driver housing. Stick the screwdriver head into the tiny space between the edge of the driver cover and the tab and then pull up a little on the driver cover.

I'm just wondering if after seeing how I made holes in the ear pads with a piece of pipe is anyone going to give this a try as well or are you sticking with the quarter thing? Even better I'll make the holes in you pads for you free of charge if you send me them cause I don't know what else to do with this piece of pipe now that I grinded it and punch out my own :O)

Got mine done this morning thanks to you guys. Love the sound!

Here's something for those who think the iGrados' not adjustable, clamp too tight, not good for bucket-sized head and so on :p~~~

That's some tough plastic. I've got a fairly large head, and over time, they've become more comfortable. The first few times I tried them, they clamped a little hard, but now they're extremely comfortable.

Thanks You all, esp @BrookR1
i like stock iGrado, more than all my previous portable hp (akgk24p,ksc75,portapro,px100). Then tried the quarter mod,i like them more, the high just opened up, the bass not so boomy, but sometime still sound alittle bit muddy. Then tried to remove the inside foam, wow, now I Think iGrado is The Best Portable opened Headphone now. sound perfect...

To replace the outer foam or the inner foam? With these headphones, less foam is better. You want only enough to rest on your ear.

The foam side which rests on the ear. I have modded mine like this one:

Is allready better than original, still I feel there could be a better foam material. Any ideas?
