iFi Zen Stream: Setup, Tips, Tricks...

I cant set the Zs to tidal only mode 3 as the spdif output needs to be refreshed after every Zs start up, will turning off the other sources using the ifi app have the same effect as tidal only mode3?
Personally, I have never used this mode, but it should result in a functional product for you in that way. The best I can say is to give it a go, as I would think in this mode, "both" outputs may be simultaneously active.

Cheers!!

It is a https://www.bt.com/help/user-guides...fi-dongles/11ac-dual-band-wi-fi-extender-1200

Only available in the UK I assume as it is provided by our telecoms provider, and is about 8 years old. I have it plugged in to a filtered mains block connected using a supra ethernet cable. The mains block is the only other change apart from the TPLink adapter that I tried using before.
Thanks for the tip, quirky but the Zs certainly seems to like 2.4ghz better..using a dedicated 2.4ghz wifi extender now connected by ethernet to the Zs and definitely more stable connection to Tidal Spotify...

I have exactly the same problem in roon mode and even in AIO mode with RME ADI-2 DAC FS.
If USB DAC is selected and saved, the output form is empty after saving. FW 2.32.12

Very interesting. Maybe that's why some report zero issues, but quirky yes, as shouldn't make any difference.

Mine is still stable 3 weeks going.

With problem I have with the latest firmware (not able to save my USB DAC as source, if lucky to be detected). I rolled back to v2.31.7.
Also still with USB DAC detection problems, but with some luck it has been detected, being able to save it - so I will leave it as it is, since I only use roon.

Is it possible to revert the firmware of the Zen Stream to version 2.30.7?
The reason is that when connecting it to the Accuphase DC-1000, I am unable to play DSD files.

I found the following information, and I would like to try version 2.30.7, which is reported to work stably:
https://community.roonlabs.com/t/new-was-back-in-2021-ifi-zen-stream-device/163860?page=85

Thank you for your assistance.
It would only be possible to go back to the original firmware that came with the unit, by doing a factory reset (Soft through the menu panel)

DSD Will not be an option unless the volume mixer is set to "None" also in the menu settings

Set the volume mixer to NONE and then Save, any changes will undo this and it will need to be done again.

A new firmware is on the way that will address Roon Only mode issues, but I do not have a firm launch date.

Cheers!!

Thank you for your reply.
In conclusion, after updating to the latest v2.32.16 and setting DSD Direct on the Zen Stream, I was able to play DSD.

It would only be possible to go back to the original firmware that came with the unit, by doing a factory reset (Soft through the menu panel)
I see.
I tried resetting to factory settings, but I still couldn’t play DSD.

I was thinking I might have to wait for the new firmware, but after seeing the next post and learning that it had been released, I tried it and, as mentioned earlier, I was able to play DSD.

I've been having issues detecting USB DACs since I acquired the ifi ZEN Stream. I haven't found a solution yet that would ensure 100% detection upon connection. The most reliable detection occurs with the AQ DragonFly Red USB dongle. With other DACs connected via cable, it's been problematic, despite trying several different cables. The most improvement came when I replaced the supplied iPower adapter with another one, for example from the RME ADI-2 DAC FS, but even then the detection issues started to return.
