You’re wrong.
Fine I am wrong!

Now I will continue to make sure that no more Disinformation is posted in this thread in regards to The ZD V1 being able to Reproduce the Full MQA experience, which It does very well.

I will also keep a close eye out for anymore half truths, and word twisting by you in regards to MQA something you clearly have trouble understanding, especially if you think one needs a "Full Decoder" to be able to enjoy MQA!

Perhaps a trip back to the MQA page will enlighten everyone.

I’m saying that ifi made a commitment to have a solution for v1 to operate as a decoder.

As I've explained already, we originally thought that this was possible via a firmware update on those ZEN DAC V1s with latest XMOS chips and a promise was made, but this task turned out not possible. I trust that now everyone interested understands this :)

I used IFI ZEN DAC v1 and now IFI ZEN DAC v2
In both models there is the same annoying problem of channel imbalance at low volume.
There are moments or songs when you want to listen music very quietly.
I have several models of headphones from 18-35 OHM - I was forced to buy a special iEMatch2.5 adapter just to increase the resistance artificially and headphone louder with more OHM - in my opinion it's a mistake and a joke.

It's so annoying when I turn the knob down and I hear that the left channel is no longer playing while the right channel is still audible :triportsad:

I checked it with other friends, it is the same.
I wonder if the new IFI CAN v2 model will also have the same poor quality unbalanced potentiometer?
Can't you really use a better potentiometer?
Such a small element spoils such a great DAC.
I spent the whole weekend analyzing the problem of unbalanced channels at low volume.
There are many entries of dissatisfied customers on the Internet, the problem concerns not only IFI ZEN DAC v1 and v2, but also IFI ZEN CAN.

Some customers sent the devices back for repair - is this problem currently solved?, and new products that leave the factory are free from this defect?
Can I expect a repair / replacement of the potentiometer or replacement of the device with a working one in the entire range of the volume control and with a balanced scale of the volume control?

Channel imbalance might occur early on, but during normal listening levels this shouldn't be an issue and ZEN DAC's PowerMatch (and gain settings in our outher products) should help in adjusting your headphones to it. If at normal listening levels channel imbalance is still active, please let us know here: https://support.ifi-audio.com

Thanks!

I don't mean to be rude.
"During normal listening", this low volume range is important to me and I listen at this volume.
I think for this simple purpose this potentiometer is there and installed by IFI, and I want to use this potentiometer and hear both channels, not just one, but this and nothing more please.
I registered and opened a ticket with this problem on IFI support.

Perhaps some else have experienced this? I bought an external PS and this work great for a long time. Now and suddenly, the unit won't play unless I unplug the PS. Any advice?

Thanks :)

Perhaps the PS went bad? Do you have another 5v DC PS that you could use to test? Alternatively, do you have any testing equipment, specifically a multimeter or equivalent, to verify the original PS is still output 5v DC?

Our advice would be to let us know about that power supply issue here: https://support.ifi-audio.com

Our support team will do their best to help you out, but some extra info about your setup, usage scenarios etc. is needed. Thanks!

Pairing my Zen Dac V2 with Schiit Vahalla 2. Line out mode sounds better than Pre-amp mode.

I have finally got myself Ifi Zen Dac V2. Very satisfied so far. One thing I noticed is that for some reason when listening to Tidal I do (vastly) prefer non hi-res stream passed through the GTO filter (white light), than master stream (green or blue) light. I am not able to get Purple MQA light out of Tidal no matter what I do. I'm streaming via Macbook PRO and Tidal app or via Raspberry PI with Volumio software. Both are giving me the same results. I have correct subscription of course.

Is there anything I can do to get purple MQA on my Zen Dac and do you think that should enhance my MQA experience, or it is what it is and I should stick to non master versions of Tidal streams?

Thanks.

The lighting changed in the V2 - Green and Blue are correct, and there is no way to spoof it to get a Magneta light.

Technically, the V2 is the enhanced MQA experience since all the decoding is done on the device.
