Update: Listening to the Zen for 2 days now with the HiFiMan Deva, and it's like I am hearing my music anew. In balanced mode I am hearing deeper into the recordings than ever before. Sheesh- I never heard the guitars sound so good in "A Date With The Smithereens" album. Hannah Reid's vocals for London Grammer are smoother, fuller, and sexier than ever. The opening kick drum for The Boxer Rebellion's "Diamonds" is kicking and viscerally slamming. Completely and joyfully astounded! Big dufus grin and lost in the music. This is what it's all about. My old ears are VERY happy right now.
Okay, I have had my Zen Dac for 5 months now, running strictly off USB. Dug out an unused 5-volt power adaptor and plugged in, and WOW, what a noticeable change. Improved instrument separation, clarity, and dynamics. I'm letting my Fidelio X2 slap my face to music right now and I can't quit. U2, Tears For Fears, Smithereens, Little Feat, Wolf Alice, ...it ALL sounds MUCH better. Gonna move on to the DEVA later today. Sunday - Fun Day - Music Day. Thanks iFi for such a wonderful DAC.
correction. variable with power match on produces the same SQ as fixed. id prefer variable, then hit truebass when you want that extra ompham i imagining things today? zen dac v2, when switched to fixed, sq is more spacious with better extension than it is switched to variable at full volume
@iFi audio when is the zen can v2 coming? thanks
Here to share a perfect bag for Zen stack, if you like to carry them to travel.
As you can see I put Zen DAC and Zen Can along with stock cables and a dc power!
It's called Inateck, quite cheap, I'm sure you can find it on Aliexpress.
