iFi ZEN DAC discussion + impression

All went well with driver install + firmware update to 7.3. Everything sounds fine still playing my music off of Foobar.

Do I want my windows sample rate to be the highest with this? With 'Driver 3.2 & Firmware 7.2' it was 192,000 Hz, with 'Driver 5.12 & Firmware 7.3' I can go all the way up to 384,000 Hz. (Currently running at 32 bit - 384,000 Hz) Is my ASIO buffer size that set automatically also ok? Sorry, but I feel confused and want to make sure I'm running it properly.

@iFi audio

The default ASIO buffer setting should be fine. As for the highest sample rate, that's how I have mine set and it's been working fine.

Awesome! Thanks again. I appreciate the help & time.

For music I can run 384,000 Hz, in Battlefield V I cannot unfortunately. I have to set the windows sample rate to 192,000 Hz or else I get static and feedback when the game launches. It probably isn't an audible difference even between the 2 rates, just weird it doesn't work in game. Is this normal for some games to be incompatible or problematic with such a high sample rate? I would assume so, but I'm pretty noob.

It's not unusual. Many games rely on their own sound engines that can be limited on sampling rate.

Did you download and install the latest firmware and drivers? If not, use the link below and get those:

Yeah. That's the first thing I did. I installed 5.12 and upgraded firmware to 7.3b. sample rate doesn't automatically change when I'm using KKBOX (has 24bit 192k stuff) and playing off foobar. I just set it in windows to the highest possible setting and it just stays there. Too tired to continue. Hopefully someone here could give me some pointers

Hey!
I am using Fostex TH900 headphones. Which set should I buy: 6xx or HFM?
What is the difference between these sets, besides the fixed EQ settings for Sennheiser and Hifimen? Thank you))

Help! I'm searching for a solution to mute sound? Using iFi Zen DAC v2/Zen CAN combo.
Looking for an app or way to set up a hotkey.
I got a reply from iFi support and wanted to share it here so anyone else with the same question can find it. This is not the full reply, just the jest of it.

From Support:

Thank you for your message regarding your Zen Dac v2.

The zen Dac v2 when connected will become your sound card and this will bypass your windows controller as you should be using the iFi driver 5.12.

This is to keep the signal as clean as possible.

The volume control on the Dac or Can will now be the way to adjust your volume.
