I will have a definitive answer early tomorrow morning as I will have another BL unit to compare. I have already sent a message and am waiting for a response,
Sure, please let us know how it'll turn out.

I use my BL with a mini pc Asus and with a normal laptop. I followed the same steps for the driver setup same day I purchased BL, on Asus I have purple light, on lapton only yellow. I tried to figure out what was the problem on the laptop but without succes. So i am curious about the response you will get from Ifi.

I got a rapid response from iFi stating that the LED light colour should be yellow.
However the 2nd micro IDSD BL using the exact same hardware, and the identical firmware, produces the magenta LED.
So I'm quite understandably confused and concerned.
I'm awaiting a response after sending photographic evidence of the 2 units displaying different LED colours.

That would surely indicate setup issues outside of iFi hardware, something they may be able to help you with.
I, on the other hand believe I have an issue with one of my two BL's, as everything is constant (including the same track) in my testing.

I am looking for a hard case to store the BL and IEMS when traveling. Anyone found one they like?

Some new nfo is here. To clarify, the original micro iDSD BL didn't have purple LED and highly likely that's the one you have. It's MQA capable via firmware and yellow LED is the colour you'll get with MQA.
However at some point we started including purple LEDs in micro iDSD BLs. These units are sold with MQA stickers on their boxes.
To summarize:
- no MQA sticker on your box - yellow LED with MQA
- MQA sticker on your box - purple LED with MQA

does pre-amp bypass the internal DAC? I'm trying to use the amp only for my Chord hugo dac.
EDIT:
I think it does however the bass and 3D switch still works?

There are no differences between both versions other than LEDs. Hopefully this helps and apologies for confusion!

Thank you for putting my mind at rest. I have kept the pretty lights version and given the other one to my son
It does make perfect sense though as the BL was released without MQA compatibility. Retailers would not particularly differentiate between the 2 differently packaged products. From iFi's point of view the decision to introduce purple LED on later produced stock makes sense.

Please make sure that what you're sending to iDSD BL is MQA. If your product has that MQA sticker, it has purple light. If it doesn't go purple, then most likely it doesn't receive MQA.
