iFi iUSB3.0 launch. Names back in the hat and new #2 Winner! (page 24)

In the Noble Savant give-away, there were some people who made new accounts to enter into the competition twice. Is it possible that that has happened here? Are there any safeguards?

Hi,

Yes, we've been here for a few years now. Head-Fi is aware of this and so is the structure behind the forum.

I trust your measurments as I've gone through your reviews. how does ifi measurments claims stack up in your opinion? No need to name other names (but nice if you can). I don't usual trust reviews with measurements as most can't measure to save their own.

Measurement data is only as good as the measuring equipment used and mine certainly isn't pro level. Don't think I can afford an Audio Precision anytime soon anyway, but at least I think a solid basic measurement setup can really help to spot obvious issue rather than telling how good a system is.As far as all the iFi gears that I have, they all measured very well and nothing I can fault them with.

cheers for the reply and you did not say people need to know how to measure. give we audio precision and I cannot tell what is what. too many crazy measurements people in the world but very few know what their measurements tell to them

Thanks!

Btw, does that card in the pic say 20uV for the power supply noise?

I thought the iPower (and the iUSB3.0) were supposed to have a 0.1uV noise floor?

One more thing as I didn't see a response to this question.  What was the reasoning behind the 20uV card that is supplied with the iUSB3.0 (states 20uV noise floor) versus what is claimed (0.1uV noise floor).

Thank you.  I assure you last question and then I might have to say this is the USB device I am buying.

Hi,

Gremlins at work!

The label is for the original iFi ULN power supply. Hence the noise floor is not the same as the iPOWER.

We only pack the iPOWER in the micro iUSB3.0.

'Skin' will whack those gremlins who used the wrong card with a rather large mallet.

Apologies for any confusion caused.

Cheers.

I'd say this is pretty good.  Got me all excited about this product that I never considered purchasing before!  Better if I can win it for free!

Actually I have a question.  Since I've read (not personally experienced) that USB 2.0 devices have some issues when connected to USB 3.0 ports.  Since I would basically be connective the iUSB3.0 to my computer's USB 3.0 port, does connecting to a USB 2.0 high speed device in the chain cause any issues?  I know this is a rather broad question, but I'm just looking for a theoretical general answer.

Or would it be better to connect the iUSB3.0 to a USB2 port on the computer/source side if the DAC is USB2 as well?
