iFi audio's worst kept secret: the hip-dac!
Apr 10, 2020 at 5:20 PM Post #226 of 797
Hi, everyone, I am seeking for help!

My hip dac just arrived, and I connect my dac (via the blue cable) provided to my asus labtop (using win 10), but there is no signal indicating the connection. The PC keeps using the speaker to play the music, instead of playing via the dac. What should I do? Or is there any problem on the dac? Thanks
Did you install the iFi driver?

Did you invoke the Sound Control Panel to tell Windows to use the DAC?

Have you installed USB driver (ASIO driver)?

Thanks much, man!
I am installing the driver and will see if it works. Wish me good luck.

By the way, how about android phone? I connected it to my sony xperia 5, and it has no sound when I use spotify, neither does my amazon music.
Only by using music centre and sony library, there is a very weak sound of music with huge amount of noise.

What should I do for that?

(Crying) Just tried, it still doesn't work...

on the driver, it states: "No device detected"
Did you connect the device to your computer and switch it on?

1. Does the DAC unfold fully of MQA tracks via UAPP playback?

Each iFi audio DAC is a MQA renderer, including hip-dac. Only our desktop Pro iDSD is capable of full MQA decoding.

2. It does native DSD playback?

Yes! All our DACs do DSD natively.

Thanks for the kind clarification. Have placed an order for it. Probably in 2 weeks I'll be able to have good listening session with sexy!
Haha

Sure, anytime! Please share your thoughts on the product once it arrives!

With sensitive IEMs you might hear some background noise.

Is there anyway to use Hip-Dac with depleted battery? Can it use the power from the connect device? Kinda like iDSD nano seemingly can?

nano iDSD could be fed via an USB port, but hip-dac was designed to operate with its battery engaged all the time.

Just curious: as I understand, if I use hip dac via PC usb port, and turn it on after plugging in, the dac will draw the battery from PC instead of its own battery, right?
