I connected it directly to the router with a long usb cable to my DAC. Did another factory reset with software upgrade and the lights started working again. Worked fine. Went back to Wi-Fi and still working. See what happens next time I use it.
I’ve had the Zen Stream for awhile and most of the time I have issues trying to connect to it. In order to stream a game on Saturday, had to do a reset then reload the latest update to make it work. Took me awhile to get it to work with Qobuz today but did not need to reset it. Now, the 2 lights (connectivity and streaming rate) are not on. Maybe it is time to look for something different.
What DAC are you using? I was using Musician Pegasus R2R and had some trouble connecting also not dissimilar to your experience. I switched out to another DAC (Topping D70s) and all my problems disappeared.

This can sometimes occur when the DAC is not reporting back over USB it's capabilities. I would also suggest dropping an email to them and mentioning the issue.
Not everyone uses the same USB reporting techniques which can cause issues.

Thanks for the reply back. Going to coaxial might be the way to go. Now if it would only stream Hi-Res Qobuz without going through another application……

It’s far nicer to use than the other things I’ve been using with ZEN Stream (mConnect and JPlay), plus it works equally well with my Node2i and Wiim Pro.
mConnect works well enough, but is a poor interface, and JPlay is just unstable.
The only thing I have regarding Roon, it is too expensive. I don’t care about a pages of info, if I wan’t to know something about a Artist, I’ll google it.
All my local music is already, tagged into detail, sorted by genre, even bij resolution and file type. (7 TB of music files).
So the only thing Roon would give is the connection benefit. Right now I am forces to use DNLA, because IFI refuses to fix the SMB share issues.
So in that case Roon is very very expensive, just to be able to use a Zen stream. Or to be able to connect a qobuz subsription.
I try to understand what people like about Roon, no judgement here, just curious. When I listen to music, I am in no need to read, and when I am looking up stuff, not in the mood of listening music.
I can see how Roon isn’t for everyone, and I certainly wouldn’t use it for just the ZEN Stream, but in my case I have other streamers around the house, and it’s ideal for what I want.
I’ll admit I was a bit sceptical, until I tried it. For me, it’s far nicer to use than Bluos, the Wiim app, and mConnect.

That’s the point, I don’t use other streaming devices. Yes two google devices in the house (but will never use it for music). Soundbar is okay at best. And my desktop gear with speakers I us Qobuz or local music.
That’s why I propably never can find a decent use case, that costs almost 200 a year
I agree on not liking Bluos and mConnect.
For me the point is also, It is not like, it is not benificial, but kind of way to expensive for a feature I call, yes nice to have, wouldn’t miss the information. If qobuz, or a tidal or spotify would ask me 2 dollars extra for such a feature I would consider it, for the occasional benefit.
Because it is not like Roon works everywhere, you still need all the equipment to support it too
There's more in Roon besides the mentioned topics
You have PEQ for sound adoptions for specific headphones which is even working on top of MQA, Upsampling, DSD conversion and volume matching, song texts even for Qobuz streaming and interface to HQPLAYER service which is arguably the most sophisticated but best quality upsampler and converter for PCM/DSD on the fly.
