iFi audio ZEN Stream - Streaming elevated to a higher plane

Started again using HQPLAYER NAA on Ifi Zen Stream this time into Jds Labs Elements III MK2 at my bedside.
NAA capability is a rare feature on streamers and I am happy to have Zen Stream with that small footprint at my bedside enjoying the superior HQPLAYER filters.
There are so many choices to tune your headphones in HQPLAYER and it can make a difference to your listening experience

Thanks for your continued support! It's nice to hear the combo of the JDS has good synergy!

Cheers!!

Folks, I need help.

I want to run HQPlayer on Roon. Hardware wise, I have Roon Nucleus -> Ethernet -> iFi Zen Stream -> RME. I put the dial on iFi zen stream to all in one, and made sure that I enabled NAA on iFi app.

I ran HQPlayer on my desktop, thus I added HQPlayer on Roon according to my desktop ip. I chose HQPlayer on Roon and I have the "allow control from internet" button enabled on HQPlayer. I then press the play buttom on Roon but the tracks won't sync to HQplayer.

I had HQPlayer setup with roon long long time ago. I don't know what I was missing to get it work today. I attached a screen shot of my HQPlayer setting below. I can play like this directly via HQPlayer, but just can't control through Roon. Please advise!

After making the changes mentioned in my previous post, I've had NO dropouts for 5 hours!!:o2smile: Just hope I'm not jinxing myself...
Thanks for posting the solution and your discovery. I also was experiencing dropouts and as @Mr BubbaHyde mentioned I had also done both the Roon update and the iFi Stream at around the same time so it was hard to determine where the issue was. I made the changes to the Roon settings suggested and 2 hours in have experienced no dropouts!

So did the power supply issue get resolved? Is this steady enough on connections now? I am thinking about buying one to AirPlay Apple Music and output it to my iFi One Signature DAC to powered speakers.

Why does my HQPlayer only upsample to PCM?
My setup is HQPlayer on desktop -> ifi zen stream -> RME adi-2/4 via usb
I also tried using lower dsd resolution, but still didn't work.

Thanks. It works now.

However, I can only upsample to 48kx128. If I choose 44.1/48k x 256, music won't play.
Yes, that's the limit of PCM encapsulation.
In direct DSD, Zen can go up to 256, but in Dop, the PCM limit means that the DSD stream is one level lower.

Recently I got my hand on a second hand Sbooster 15V-16.5V BOTW MK1. But I realized that using the streamer it acts strangely. On Spotify connect it fails to connect immediately(maybe after 4-5 tries), after one time connecting it can't do a second connection without restart ..... I think it is the power supply that is the problem. If I try 16V will it be a problem? What do you guys think?
