After @Mr BubbaHyde confused me with the statement that the ifi sounds better than the Raspberry Pi, "meatier", I have now switched between the devices for 2 days, and i have to say he's right.

Even if the ifi Stream only works as a pure Roon Bridge, it is still an audible upgrade to the Pi.

The track that really caught my eye is this one:

The bass is more defined, and the whole reproduction of the music is more pleasant, difficult to explain for me.
I'll put it differently:
If someone only uses an RP 4 as a Roon Bridge, they will not miss anything, but once they have heard the ifi ZEN stream, we will notice.

With this in mind, I would like to thank @Mr BubbaHyde, who made me think with his contribution.
The sale is discontinued, the ifi stream stays with me

I recently bought one just now from stereo. Setup pretty much swift using the ethernet cable. However, I received the generic 12v power supply am i suppose to get the ifi power supply?

I got mine from Zeppelin Audio in early July and it came with a 12V iPower. i also checked the packaging and there's a small sticker that says "with iPOWER". does your box have the same sticker?

perhaps like someone else in this thread pointed out, they could be phasing this out and bundling the current batch of Zen Stream with a generic power supply?

I had exactly this just now. The first slight issue I've had since owning it. Had to pull the power cable. But is now working fine again. haven't checked the firmware. Can't be arsed to move the screw.

So far only the one time for my unit.

yup you are right, no sticker. That's explain it.... is there a sonic difference? if so, gotta grab one or use my current existing LPS...

I am unsure about any sonic differences since this is the only iFi product that I own currently and I do not have any other 12V power supply to compare with.

Brother, I'm just glad you were able to hear what I mean, It is so hard to try and explain yourself in this area that sometimes I honestly feel foolish using the words that I do!

But I try to be honest with what I do and Do not hear, I'm happy for you!!

i have asked IFI to explain this, but so far no response from them. why did they switch? do we now have to pay out of pocket for a IPOWER adaptor. i ordered a second unit regardless. the retailer stated that the newer units have a NON-IPOWER adaptor included. as long as my stream does not hang up like it did with my first unit i will be happy.

i have asked, no reply. please open a support ticket with IFI and let us know. btw, how does it sound without the IFI IPOWER adaptor. my first unit was shipped with a IPOWER and it sounded fantastic. maybe they will send us a coupon for an IPOWER? thank you

I can test it out for you between the iFi 12v, a linear PS and just a generic PS and see what I can discern for you. I have been running mine off of the iFi just out of convenience until I purchase a good linear 12v. I'm not claiming to hear any grand differences with linear, I have certainly heard some so I will stick with them till something else Changes my mind, Lol...

To my experience from my Zen dac which i bought on the day of release i got the ipower X so i deduced is a first come first serve basis just like @innocentblood who got the ipower from the zen stream probably because he bought in early July
