My dog looks at my cables the same way, and when I’m out and about, he chews them up. Needless to say, he’s a Bluetooth dog.

Yes the sweet cables call to her, she just has to chew them no matter how many 'dog' toys she has :) Remotes too, and she's still a pup so her teeth are like the alien's teeth in the movie um Alien :) Doesn't help she's got beagle and Jack Russell in her- two very stubborn dogs.

Bluetooth is a godsend when it comes to dogs, unless they chew your headphones up :frowning2: I knew I was in trouble when she chomped a glass Christmas ornament like 2 days after I got her. Her poop gittered red afterwards ha ha. Dogz are so fun!

Lol on her glittery poop!

My dog is a fantastic companion, but he is a bit destructive at times when he’s left alone at home, so I place my wired headphone gear away when I leave.

How sweet! He actually looks a lot like holly, a bigger holly ha ha, is he part beagle, or pit? They get pissed being alone, I had a German shepherd mix that tore everything up when you left her alone.

Lol hijacking the thread, sorry

He’s a Boxador, half Boxer, half Labrador. Yep, he’s a pisser when he’s alone.

Returning to the thread topic, I do like the new GTO filter. My CD rips sound better than before.

Wondering if anyone here can suggest a fix I haven’t thought of for my dead xDSD... mentioned the specifics earlier, but I’ll reiterate for anyone who missed my previous post...

Received the xDSD January 27th. Took it out of the box, listened to it briefly, then went to top off it’s charge, as I was traveling to the EU the next day and wanted a full battery for the long flight. I used the included USB cable and a power source of the correct voltage. Additionally, my place is new construction, and the wall wiring is perfect.

Anyway, after 45 minutes I checked to see how the charge was going, what color the power button was. To my surprise, it was dead. I unplugged the xDSD and attempted to power it on. Nothing. I tried charging it again (even though it shouldn’t have been dead anyway since it was mostly charged when I went to top it off). That didn’t work, so I tried again multiple times with different (proven) USB cables, power sources, and outlets. Nothing worked. I tried the power reset FAQ from iFi multiple times, but still no luck... the unit was just dead.

Traveled to the EU the next day, there was just no time to get it to UPS for a return to Amazon. So now that I’m back from the EU, I’m outside the Amazon return window.

Tried all the stuff I outlined above a few days ago again, but nothing’s changed... I get zero response from the unit, it’s a brick.

Can anybody think of anything I missed?

I've known Amazon or the vendor to go outside the return window if the item is defective. I'd try talking to Amazon first about a return, just explain the circumstances.

I'm sorry in advance if that was mentioned in the thread.
How does the 3.5 mm TRRS (so called S-balanced) output sound vs standard 3.5 mm TRS?

And the second question to @iFi audio : Is Line out 3.5 mm output TRS only or this is also a TRRS?
So can you make a full balanced circuit connecting the xDSD 3.5 mm TRRS to the xCAN 2.5 mm TRRS?

Thanks.

Yes, you can. 3.5mm to 3.5mm TRRS cable is what you need in-between xDSD and xCAN.

@iFi audio Are you sure about 3.5 to 3.5 TRRS on both sides?
In the tech notes I see that this is just a TRS, that's why I was mentioning the 3.5 TRRS (xDSD) to 2.5 TRRS (xCAN)

Could anyone let me know if the xDSD supports multiple device pairing? i.e.: If I have both my iPad and my iPhone paired with the xDSD, will it automatically switched between devices depending on which device happens to be playing audio?

Apologies if this has been covered already but searched the thread and read through the manual and couldn't find an answer.

Thanks in advance!

Thank you for your answer and clarification.
So, another words, both 3.5 mm output on the xDSD and 3.5 input on the xCAN are S-Balanced (TRRS) and the Tech Notes miss this information saying that it is TRS only on the xCAN side.

So please advise if the following statements are correct:
  1. To get it fully balanced (S-Balanced) I can take a 3.5 mm 4 pole to 3.5 mm 4 pole interconnect cable and make the combination xDSD + xCAN fully balanced (S-Balanced)
  2. The 3.5 mm 4 pole (xDSD) to 2.5 mm 4 pole (xCAN) connection will not properly work since the level of the 3.5 TRRS signal of xDSD is not enough? Correct?

BTW, ordered the xDSD today.
Please advise if the 3.5 mm TRRS pin out is similar to a well known 2.5 mm pin out on the picture below?
