As stated above, much better to experience than to explain. So many features that could be important to you.

For me, the seamless integration of TBs of my personal music collection and Tidal in a design that is elegant and always just "works" in my wifi streaming environment. I've tested many interface options and Roon is by far the best I've used.

Give the free 2 week trial, a trial.

Much easier to experience, than explain.

And it's free to try!

If you need more than 2 weeks, if you ask them, they are pretty generous with extending the free trial for another week or two...

I agree, much easier to experience than explain. I hated computer audio but Roon has converted me 100%

Roon is great with the exception that they don't let you customize ID tags. I have lots of Asian music and some will show up as English and some as the native language. To be honest, Audivarna is in certain ways similar to Roon. It allows UPNP/DLNA so it plays better with Pro iDSD. Roon only supports Airplay which actually sounds good on the Pro iDSD.

Then I realized that these features were never ever advertised or promised.

Most of what we promised and advertised, we delivered and there's still stuff to do. But we never promised Roon knowing what it needs. We don't say 'aye' or 'nay' to it and that's the most honest answer we have at this point.

Bottom line is this: we're still exploring what we can do with Pro iDSD. If we can do anything about Roon (knowing how much folks also beyond this community want it), at some point we might.

I believe you guys in ifi work very hard to enhance the feature of the product. But a clear road map (transparency) of the coming features/enhancement can help consumer to understand the product and confident when making a choice.

Thanks, we're doing our best!

In the past there were some features we were keen to announce (MQA for example) long before they happened, but a clear iFi roadmap isn't going to happen. We like to have our R&D secrets and surprise our customers with new stuff added, especially if we're able to deliver it via FW upgrade free for everyone. Besides, any 'roadmap' many folks probably would view as promises. And we're into only these promises we're able to fulfil

The new firmware is great. I think ifi knocked it out of the park. I haven't experienced persistent stuttering with network streaming since the day it came out. Some DSDs may stutter in the beginning for a few seconds, but smooths out. In the past, once stuttering starts, it doesn't stop until you restart the unit. I noticed streaming SACD ISO will always stutter but the same files in DSF won't. It may be how Jriver parses ISOs.

The new firmware for sure sounds better than 2.0 beta and 1.6. It's not just placebo.

I recommend putting the Pro iDSD in network bridge mode to allow best sound quality and connection.

Pro iDSD -> Soundaware P1 -> Susvara sounds spectacular.

Hello,

Roon works with Pro iDSD's ethernet port the way as described in this JPlay thread: http://jplay.eu/forum/index.php?/topic/2783-roon-with-jplayfemto-it-is-possible/

All you need is the upnp-bridge. A microRendu or ultraRendu with Sonore's UPnP app will do it, too. And you must activate the squeezebox support in Roon.

Even DSD64 (DoP) and MQA does work. I didn't have any issues so far.

Kudos to DC!

Cheers

Yes but you will be feeding Pro iDSD from the Rendu with USB. I just sold my ultraRendu. I feel Pro idsd sounds better with direct Ethernet compared to ultraRendu in the middle.

No USB involved. With the Sonore UPnP app you can use any UPnP renderer as endpoint for Roon. It's part of the SonicOrbiter OS since version 2.7 (or already 2.6 not sure). I already had posted about this on the ifi Pro iDSD thread on computeraudiophile when I had a microRendu.

I have sold my microRendu, too. Now I use the UPnP-bridge started by Fidelizer as described in that thread.

The streaming way looks like this: Roon --> Squeezebox streaming --> UPnP-bridge --> UPnP renderer (ethernet port of ifi Pro iDSD). I use wlan and playback is stable. The ifi DAC must have a quite big buffer.

I see basically a work around to use Roon. Why are you doing it that way instead of connecting the microRendu directly to Pro iDSD? did you feel Pro iDSD sounded with direct ethernet connection also?

I currently use a Logitech Transporter as my Roon wifi streamer. From the Transporter I go into a Sonic Frontiers DAC. Would the ifi work the same way? What would I lose?

It is encouraging to know that there are some possbile ways to use roon with the Pro iDSD.

I am very sorry that I am just a newbie in Roon. May I know is it possible for me to use Raspberry Pi 3 as an endpoint and then connected with the Pro iDSD and enjoy the all the things from Roon?
