For clarity: if I have some non-hard planars (such as Edition X, Diana, Kennerton Odin, etc.) and plug them into PRO iDSD's 6.3mm out, will the result be necessarily worse than if I drive them from the single-ended 6.3mm. jack of the PRO iCan amp?

Hard to know, as nobody outside of CanJam NYC and some other select few have heard the Pro iDSD, much less compared SE outputs with that very specific set of headphones.

I'm general, I would guess no. The iCAN should outperform the iDSD. More power flexibility is almost always better.

I apologize if my English is not perfect. Of course, I did not mean only these models, but any other easy-to-drive planar headphones.

Higher power and balanced output make up the advantage of the iCan when they are useful.
But what if we put iDSD and iCan in equal conditions, where these features of iCan are not in demand? I hope we soon find out.

If you're willing to take a manufacturer's word into accout, Pro iCAN is our TOTL amplifier, second to none. The one in Pro iDSD is very good, especially after taking into consideration that it's one of many features of a DAC and not a standalone product, but not that good.

I'm late to the party to find out it was delayed :frowning2: That's kinda disappointing since the reason for the delay doesn't seem like it really affects most people, oh well though I'm not even sure if I can swing it. Id really like to hear a quad DAC, but I can't help feeling like I'm paying twice for a second headphone amp especially with owning the ican pro.

As we've explained above, the headphone amplifier circuitry inside our pro iDSD is one out of many functions this product has. We implemented it simply because we already had our own proprietary tech and enough space to do so. Point being, this is a very nice addition to a DAC and no, you're not paying twice for it.

I’ve been trying to find theads on this forum pertaining to the Pro iCan. Would you mind taking a moment to post their links here anyone?

Thank you

Bonjour,

Tony

So is idsd pro the only quad dac? Also I’ve never heard a resistor ladder dac l wonder if you could notice a difference between the iDSD pro and something like the holo audio spring dac or cyan as example

There are plenty of resistor ladder DACs (some of which costs tens of thousands of dollars). I'm not 100% sure, but I thought the Schiit Yggy was a type of RL DAC (but I could be wrong).
