This thing looks like a Starfury fighter from Babylon 5.

Is there a desktop mode or battery mode is mandatory?

I will endeavor to find the exact operation method and post it. It does "bypass" the battery at a certain point, but I will get crystal clarity for you.

On the point of "bypassing the battery," I will also ask for clarification. As an original Mojo owner I understand what you are getting at here.

Batteries are 21700 if you did not see @Mr BubbaHyde in his post.

Cheers!!
@iFi audio I would be interested in knowing this as well. I hope that IFI has learnt from the feedback of Gryphon users. A €1700 DAC that is meant to be used always plugged-in must have desktop mode (fully battery bypass).

What is the output impedance with IEMatch engaged?

ps. I wish you had left the top translucent (maybe with just black pcb)

For those who asked about the remastering info from our website on the FPGA process

Remastering content to high resolution DSD has previously only been available to a select few, including the world's best mastering houses.. The Valkyrie brings this once exclusive processing to the hands of the consumer via a custom-coded FPGA, to transform any file and ultimately make music sound closer to a professionally remastered recording.

Hope this helps a bit, as our Pro Signature series has DSD remastering capability as well.

Cheers!!
Any chance to produce a Pure DAC with FPGA and K2 for Home use?

It's a bit strange, but there are rather many reviews on the web already available, but no one review is making some little sound comparison with other devices like xDuoo XD05 PRO, Ibasso D16, Shanling Onix Mystic XP1 or Overure XM5, it could be interesting too with Cayin C9 II/Ibasso PB5 (though those are just AMPs without DAC) or even LOTOO Mjölnir ....

Basically, I really like the concept of this iDSD Valkyrie, it can also be worth to be used with a good smartphone (with Aptx Lossless connection), assuming there is a DC input with a passthrough battery mode, like FIIO M17 have or some other devices on the market.

Holy!!!

Thats a device, crazy power and crazy features with a price tag to match. If possible would love to see how it performs someday 🙏

Love that it still has the xbass and xspace support, a major reason why I love all the ifi products. Also happy to see one of the fee devices using the 5181 Bluetooth chip, almost no one uses that chip. It offers so many features and a much better bandwidth and stability for supported devices like mine.

maybe 5.7 Watts * 0.707 = 4 watts.
It is just more of the same.

Unfortunately, iFi are primarily choosing marketing a deceptive and pointless number over the RMS output, which at over 2W is actually quite impressive in itself.

It's very disappointing. I actually talked to someone from iFi, and the impression I got from him was that iFi had learned their lesson. Obviously not.

I have one in for review, and the performance is excellent. It doesn't need what is essentially a lie to market it!

Looks amazing but what is this obsession with audio companies and Norse mythology?

That looks great! Although I wish the circuitry was more complicated looking, a little more exciting to look at

I thought the top popped out for a sec there! That would have been awesome

Thanks for the input! Really sad to see that

Hope you can cover the entire issue and about the device in your review Currawong

Nothing new really.

OPA1679 & TPA6120 Headphone Amp as in the iDSD Red Label (later released as Diablo). Double number of Capacitors on the supply rails compared to Red Label.

OPA1679/NJW1159 Preamp as found in "Gryphon" and likely mostly copied from the xCAN.

4 X DAC (DSD1793 I presume) and FPGA Processing as in the iDSD Pro, but with Op-Amp analog stage using OPA1679 like iDSD Red Label.

Other than doubling up on DAC's and bigger batteries it is closer to a iDSD Micro (Black Label or Diablo) than something like the iDSD Pro.

That popped my balloon. Obviously it’s how it sounds, and no doubt sounds terrific, but this price I expected a whole new architecture.
