If changing them is there any need for battery matching or anything of that nature or do you just buy four new ones and pop them in ?

The definite answer is maybe.

If you buy genuine mainstream brand cells from a reputable reseller, yes. Batteries get pretty good these days.

Of course if you buy fake "UltraFire" Batteries from Alibaba and the 40 robbers like this:

Here the "original for comparison":
FB_IMG_1743075653133.jpg

And no, they are not 6,800mAh, more like 1,800mAh.

If you get garbage like this, they may even end up performing a rapid unintentional selfdisassembly while being charged.

I have received fakes from reputable retailers, I could return the fakes. Of course and I have the necessary tester too.

I needed the batteries for my "Master blaster" beachblaster, which houses 6S2P 18650 cells, which has a 2 x 50W Class D amp and Focal 6.5" 2 Way Car drivers, with an ESS DAC behind LDAC Bluetooth.

It took three attempts to get good cells (Samsung). One set had one battery blow up and catch fire while charging.

And those all superficially appeared to be genuine Samsung Cells and all came from highly rated on line shops. So Caveat Emptor.

never will touch those ultrafires. Worst reputation in the vaping community.

Sony Panasonic and Samsung makes the best ones.

Also Steve’s review from Bloom Audio on YouTube makes some direct Sonic comparisons as well.
Indeed, he does, if I remember right, around the 10-minute mark.

Not that you shouldn't watch the whole video...:beerchug:

Audio46 has informed me that this ships with the ipower2, so does the ipower vary by region or what is this?
I can enquire for you, but it should be the Power x to my knowledge.

Let me get clarity for you.

'Rigo' said it comes with the one in this pic. I know for one that ifi switches around ipower versions sometimes seemingly on products, and that theyve also messed up images for what a product should come with before, and ive not a clue which one it is.

I will call and verify. Thanks for the info...

In terms of "switching around" power supplies, the only time that would be the case is if a launch unit comes in a limited amount with a specific Power and then after that is sold through it may change.

Cheers!!

I spoke with Audio 46, and he assured me the incorrect picture was corrected and it is an iPower X in every box.

Hope this helps...

Cheers!!

21700 is just a size code, like 18650.

The writing NCR21700T would suggest a Panasonic battery, but the look is different:

https://www.neexgent.com/product/neexgent-panasonic-3-6v-5000mah-ncr21700t-battery.html

There are many makers and actual types with varying capacity. And there are many fakes. Internal chemistry is all the same, all lithium based and hence dangerous if not handled correctly.

So just 21700 is not enough to guarantee correct function or even safety.

As I recounted, I received apparently genuine cell, which when charged as the original cell rapidly overheated to the point that one cell exploded.

There is a reason airlines are banning battery banks on flights.
