iFi audio NEO Stream - Sweet Streams!

It sounds like perhaps you aren't signed into Qobuz properly, I would double-check it in the settings menu. Other than that I am not sure why that would be happening.

Cheers!!
Thank you very much. I'm using Ethernet via Optibox but the WiFi also shows an IP because I can't turn it off since setting the Neo to Advanced Settings doesn't actually give me any extra settings I can find in the menus. I did ensure I was logged in to Qobuz properly and that account works fine in Bluesound on my Node 2i. I've never had any luck with apps besides Bluesound which is perfect and Tidal connect disconnects occasionally but is useable.I'll continue to search through Mconnect Light settings. I wasn't sure if maybe I had to pay the developer to use it but sounds like it's free and should work.

In your Settings/Network menu the Wifi can be turned off if not needed...

In regards to Mconnect I have always used the paid version, think it's like 5 bucks or so, but I thought the only difference between the Lite and paid versions was Ads being visible, I could be wrong.

If you have logged into your Qobuz acct from within the Mconnect app that's all you should need to do there. And I was using the IOS version.

If all of that seems correct to you and you are still having issues, then I would suggest perhaps doing a reset from within the Settings System menu, right by where you would check for any updated firmware, to see if that solves your issue.

I have always found Mconnect to be a reliable alternative in the Absence of any Qobuz connect, and if after your reset you still have the same issue I would reach out and open a support ticket, just in case something else is going on.

Cheers!!

Edit: I want to also point out that when I did that part of my Testing I was using AIO mode.

It works. Problem was I left it in AIO mode instead of DLNA. Also, I'm guessing the settings to turn of WiFi are on the internet url and not the Neo itself. Lol, I'm a little slow figuring out how these things work so these forums are a godsend.
Yes I am sorry I should have pointed out the use of http://ifi.local in AIO mode or you can access these setting by downloading the Stream-ifi app.

It's good to have access to this so whichever way you would like to do it. This also allows you to use a connected SSD or thumbdrive in the cases of Network being down by using the library function.

Glad your up and going!

Cheers!!

Nice posting @ Superbestaudiofriends :

Tested Mercury V1 (owned) - Silent angels Munich Ht (owned) - PiAES (owned) Holo Audio Red (loaned)
You may consider Ifi neo stream as well.
Worked out of the box. :
Optical Lan (Optibox) with reclocked Ethernet * , DLNA exclusive Mode, integrated NAA , perfect DSD (512x) over direct I2S , *excellent Sound Quality . Perfect with my Holo Audio Spring 3 KTE (I2S - Alt2).
Ifi should release a version without DAC for 800 $ .....and bingo. Game over .
Best

I wish the DAC on the neo stream could have had a digital input so I could connect my computer to it and not have to have another DAC just for that. A spdif input would have been really useful. Maybe for the next version ifi.

I completely agree! I have become such a huge fan of the internal DAC (Been listening to it exclusively for a while now) that even just a Spdif/Coax in or at least a possible in/out type setting would have allowed me to run my CD Transport to it and I might be all set.

But we can suggest and hope right?

Cheers!!

I return my NEO Stream because of the occasional ticks and the fact that I never used the DAC.

I will definitely buy a digital streamer only version for cheaper!
Yes I think the value of the Neo Stream as a dedicated streamer to an external DAC is highly questionable and it's value really is as an all in one streamer and DAC.

Having said that....in today's $$$ it is still cheaper than the Auralic Aries dedicated streamer that I bought 10 years ago but the fact that I already own the Aries, relegates the NS to 2nd place in my main setup feeding my Holo Audio DAC. The main reason being the difference between the 2 units operating software - Auralic's own Lightning DS is miles ahead of the Volumio based software in the NS. Lightning DS is much faster to scan and update, easier to navigate, has zero glitches and the UI is much easier on the eye. The only thing that Volumio has over Lightning DS is the ability to use a web interface at my desktop MAC or the app from my iPad or phone, where the Auralic is controlled only by the app. I have also recently discovered that the Aries is not as limited as the NS with external hard disk formats.

Having said all that I will keep the NS around for it's all-in-one versatility - but as posted by @ra990 above, it would have been even better if it could have been used as a standalone DAC.

I'm sure that iFi will be trying to improve the software but at the moment it is slow going and the annoying behaviour of the mixer control always defaulting to software volume on startup is still there from launch, despite it being fixed a long time ago on the Zen Stream. Without checking I think it has been around 5 months since the last software update?

Maybe iFi will release a cheaper dedicated streamer version down the track to cater for those who want to use an existing DAC in their setup.

Thought I would share a review from Hi-Fi Choice on the NEO Stream!

Hi-Fi Choice Review
"No one-box streamer I've tested anywhere near the price manages to sound so effortlessly engaging and natural with such a wide spread of formats and styles"
