iFi audio NEO Stream - Sweet Streams!

My friend is having issues with his iFI Neo Stream, I wonder if anybody would know what he should try next. This is his fault description:

If you can lay your hands on a windows laptop it is fairly straightforward to reset the device. Just need a usb c cable and the de-bricking software. Not ideal I grant but saves sending the unit off. It sure if they can send you the link or the software is on the website.

Sounds alot like my current issue described above. I have asked Ifi support about my issue and will post any usable reply. I have a number of Music streamers from different manufacturers and this one has the worst software bugs, but it does sound good when its working.

Here you can find the MEGA folder for the NEO Refresh tool, as mentioned above you will need a windows PC to use it, please follow the included instructions carefully and allow ample time for the reset to finish.

After refresh you can update to the current software using the "Check for updates" in the ifi.local interface.

I have a USB DAC in my amp. If you set the Neo to connect to USB it does, however when you restart the Neo although it shows as USB selected, it doesn’t appear to lock on. AirPlay is not an option, you have to select USB amp again. Does anybody else see this and is this expected behaviour?

Sometimes it's just a matter of USB reporting, some DACs or DAC/Amps just aren't communicating in the expected way. I am told this may have something to do with manufacturers conforming to USB standards, or it may be a case where you might want to contact the maker of the DAC/Amp as well just to see if they support USB standards.

More simply it would be nice if all pieces of equipment would play nice, but sometimes there are just gremlins...

If you have a moment I would also report this behavior and your brand and model to our support folks, perhaps something can be done there as well.

On a side note best practice for me has always been to turn on the USB-connected equipment before the Zen or NEO, that may help as well, but I have run into this over the years with different pieces of gear.

I feel confident in saying that once Qobuz has completed its testing in the Beta phases and rolled it out (in Phases I am sure) it should be no problem.

The waiting is the hardest part...lol

As always please allow 5-10 minutes for the update to complete, depending on your setup

Unfortunately my Neo don’t see update, it stay on checking for update and no change.
