@iFi audio

Can you please make a neo pro or v2 version (price can be higher) and fix/add the following points and this unit will be awesome:

1. Add more power to the amp
2. Remote control needs an on/off button. It should be physically different on top and bottom to use it when it's dark.
3. Add a longer USB cable. Black or grey/silver. Not this blue that's looks like a printer cable from 1990. The unit looks beatufil but the cable destroys the design on the desktop. People don't want to spend additional dollars on another cable.
4. The display should work on both sides. if the unit is placed horizontally. Some people want to use it left or right next to the monitor.
5. Add some filter. They display looks great but it's nearly useless if this unit don't offer any function. Otherwise you could switch inputs just like on the black label series.
6. The Bluetooth mode should also work as a transmitter.

Duly noted, thank you for the suggestions!

Check out the info on our new Download Hub here.

We've updated the way you can find out what software and firmware work on your machine and what functionality it provides. This is now done by product serial number so should make like easier and more straightforward.

As a prospective customer I don't like that I can't look how many software updates this unit got since the release because I don't have a serial number.

1. Pro iDSD has that :D
2. NEO iDSD can't be powered on remotely, which is why its RC doesn't have a power on/off function.
3. Noted!
4. Noted!
5. Pro iDSD has these.
6. NEO iDSD is a DAC, so there's no point in it transmitting digital data to a different DAC.

But there is a point to transmitting to Bluetooth headphones and/or speakers.

Although I see the logic here, this would be the task for a regular BT transmitter. On a side note, are there any desktop DACs that can send digital data wirelessly to an external device?

I can speak for my situation:
Currently I have a small usb bt dongle in my PC that offers only a low range. When I run around the house with my BT headphones I always get pissed..

If I would buy a BT-transmitter with a longer range all the newer BT codecs (for example the fiio bta30), then I would need to spend another 60-100$/€.

The Neo already has a antenna and can probably provide more distance (25m,50m?) and supports all codes.
If you can provide a transmitter functionality, that would be another argument for me (and other people) to buy the product.

I don't know but if ifi would be the first or only one, isn't that a plus point? :D

Not really a headphone amp (terrible headphone output actually) but my NAD D 3045 does receive and transmit bluetooth (got it to drive some speakers in a desktop setup but it can be used as a DAC, although I have never tried) and it is pretty convenient to have it all in one device.

It's always a matter of how useful a given functionality is (as in: how many custmers would benefit from it) versus a product's final price. As a manufacturer we constantly face such decisions, and a BT transmitter in a DAC would be a niche utility. But then again, I'll ask at our HQ what our R&D thinks about that.

yes of course. I 100% understand. I can't even say if this is mostly a software thing or if additional hardware is needed. I'm no engineer
But I like that ifi is super active here I listen to all the points the people bring up on this thread. Super cool. :v:

That's a good question, but most likely extra hardware would have to be involved. And thanks, we're here and reading everything HF's community has to say :)

Wrapping up My review. Spoiler my last picture (if I figure out how to attach it) is not of the tour unit, but the unit I bought because I couldn't stand not having it in my system.

Side question: what is the input voltage spec / tolerance? I have a 7VDC linear power supply. Could I use that on the DC input (not USB)?

Hurray! Glad your time with it convinced you. Looking forward to reading your review.

Re: your side question, I'll check in on that and get back to you when the team gets back in the office!
